“Karma Chameleon” has often been interpreted as a reflection of Boy George's turbulent relationship with Culture Club drummer Jon Moss. George himself, however, described the song more broadly as being about the fear of alienation, changing yourself to please other people and the consequences of not being true to... who you are.
