It's also still the view of many Muslims and Islamic countries. Nowadays it's a minority view in the UK. However, where I live in deep rural Spain it is the majority view of older Spanish men. Many of the women here can't read because their husbands didn't allow them to learn. Many of the women do consider it to be their job to stay at home, take care of the kids, cook and look after their husbands. It's changing but very slowly. She's also wrong about the Empire in terms of infrastructure and resources. It's the common narrative that the British Empire extracted resources and left former colonies without infrastructure, causing the migration that we see today.
