📺On June 2, 1981, ABC’s “The Barbara Walters Special” featured a much-talked-about interview with Katharine Hepburn. Asked if she ever wore a skirt, Hepburn famously quipped, “I have one… I’ll wear it to your funeral.” 👗 The interview also produced the legendary “tree question” 🌳 when Hepburn compared herself to a tree and Walters asked what kind. Forty-five years later, both moments remain among the most memorable exchanges in TV interview history

In preparation for her role as Katharine Hepburn, Cate Blanchett learned to play tennis and golf, and took cold showers, for which Hepburn was known. Director Martin Scorsese requested that Cate Blanchett watch the first fifteen movies of Katharine Hepburn, to learn her mannerism and her poise. Cate Blanchett's portrayal of Katharine Hepburn makes her the first performer to win an Oscar for playing a real-life Oscar winner (Hepburn won a record four). Movie : The Aviator

In 1973 the late great KATHARINE HEPBURN — born 119yrs ago today — turned up at Dick Cavett’s studio pretty much unannounced and gave him an interview that many had tried & failed to secure for many years.

Cate Blanchett's astonishing portrayal of Katharine Hepburn in THE AVIATOR. It was the first time somebody won on Oscar for playing an Oscar-winner.
