Formalin is poison. There is no safe dose. The fish is preserved because all bacteria are killed by formalin. Formalin kills all life, period.

This is preposterous and highly disturbing. Which city is it from? Strict action must be taken in this case. Meat is anyway fast perishable food item and those consuming this stale and chemically treated are inviting ill health with each bite! @MoHFW_INDIA #ConsumerRights

Similar strategies must have been adopted for chicken/mutton/egg also, No ? Fruits, Vegetables ..name it .. I have always doubted these sellers selling fruits/vegetables with 100% confidence saying leke jaiye sir, ekdm fresh hai ..super sweet hai Bhai itna confidence se kaisa bol sakta hai re? 😁

And when those lakes are up in the mountains, it can take a plane or a helicopter to get the live fish to the water. But in many cases, these very lakes never had any fish in them to begin with. And adding these non-native fish can have ripple effects on the entire ecosystem.

Most of you are pretending to know the difference between farmed and wild caught fish… but here’s the thing: It’s not about the source. It’s about the QUALITY and SUSTAINABILITY. You’re not going to your local butcher and asking where the wild caught chicken is. So why with your seafood? What matters is whether the your fish is coming from a high quality, responsible fisher. When it hits the pan, fish is fish. Whenever shopping for seafood of any type always do so responsibly and sustainably! More info at , ,

The derelict elver pass on the River Fergus, Ennis, Co. Clare, this week. This elver pass was never maintained and quickly fell into disrepair. This is one of Inland Fisheries Ireland’s (IFI) fish counters. It is difficult to explain why IFI continues to maintain the fish counter here but has allowed the elver pass to fall into disrepair. The European eel is a critically endangered species, and fish passage problems at weirs and dams are among the key reasons for its decline. This fish pass was installed as part of a damaging flood scheme and was intended to help lampreys, but lampreys cannot use it either. This location is within the Lower River Shannon Special Area of Conservation.
