The Little Current Swing Bridge is Manitoulin Island’s only road connection to the rest of Ontario, but after over 110 years of service it’s in serious need of replacement. Last year, I was in Little Current to announce the design contract for a new, state-of-the-art replacement bridge and today we’re taking the next step by awarding the construction contract. It’s just one of the many ways we’re investing to make northern roads and highways safer for Ontario communities.

When I first learned about what was to happen to the environment at Fort Edward Solar, I thought it was an isolated incident. And then I started to travel to solar complexes. I started to talk to people. Towns started to email me. I learned that environmental devastation is commonplace at every single ORES wind and solar complex. Rural New Yorkers had lost their ability to govern their towns statewide. It’s all purposeful, the centralization of power. They don’t want us governing our resources without Albany’s input. So they created ORES. And I created a nonprofit. This is bigger than Fort Edward. This is a statewide lawsuit that attacks the RAPID Act regulations and concerns the transmission lines. Crime in Victoria is now at its highest level in 20 years under Labor. More than 1,000 young repeat offenders are being re-bailed to steal cars, invade homes, and reoffend again and again. Gangs are treating Victoria as their safe haven, with illicit tobacco now more lucrative than cocaine. Police morale has collapsed, good officers are leaving, and communities are left to fend for themselves. It’s clear the system is broken. We need to back the police, toughen our laws, and restore community safety and only a federal and state Liberal Government will do that.
