Keir Starmer today declared his support for the commitment of war crimes by Israel on LBC. He suggested that Israel has the right to cut off electricity and food supplies to Gaza. This is a war crime under international law. #FreePalestine #GazaUnderAttack

Starmer is clearly either ignorant of International law or indifferent to its application. Given his background as a lawyer, it is unlikely that the former is the case.

All political leaders who are truly committed to the application of international law and respect for human rights know that these principles must be applied consistently.

You cannot on the one hand condemn Russia for its violations of international law via its illegal occupation of Ukraine, whilst giving the greenlight to another state overseeing a decades-long military occupation to commit further war crimes.

Such comments send a message that violation of human rights doesn’t matter if the victims are Palestinians.

@LBC I'm afraid this is the day I leave the Labour Party. No one can condone cutting off electricity, water and food to hospitals and civilian homes.

@LBC Why should the Middle East countries listen to someone who right now has no power in the country he resides in?
