Keir Starmer’s speech yesterday was like a hostage situation. His advisors wheeled him out and forced him to say things he doesn’t believe. It was all an elaborate ploy to con the public he cares about reducing immigration.

Starmer with more cheap parlour tricks. His immigration measures only affect those who are coming here legally. The thousands of fighting age men showing up illegally won’t be affected - and son of toolmakers’ government have already admitted their measures do nothing to tackle the hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants here already. @Keir_Starmer is a charlatan.

Quite. Interesting that US commentators have failed to understand that Starmer was delivering a White Paper in his speech yesterday, so a discussion of policy that he actually has the power to implement already. He also fails to tackle the salient issue, which is illegal migration. He’s a Fabian first and foremost, an ideologue, he hasn’t had a Damascene conversion.

Remigration would easily solve this.

He’s not conning anyone. We all know he’s a liar & has absolutely no intention of reducing immigration. If he really wanted to, he’d have done it by now. The laws are already in place, but he chooses not to apply them!

The issue you have is the Tories were in power for 14 years and had the same situation, and did nothing. So whats different now.

The British people (by and large) no longer trust any of you in the Legacy Parties. You have all connived at mass uncontrolled immigration and now the Electorate is very serious about wanting it stopped, you want to ride that popular wave. You won't be surfing home on our backs.

Spot on 👏🏻 Starmer pledged to close detention centres and pushed to increase asylum benefits. He has no principles or beliefs, he’s an opportunist.

Well Rob, I couldn’t agree more. The reality is, we Conservatives know exactly how this game is played and lost. Under previous leadership, we announced immigration reduction policies and made promises left, right and centre—yet none of them were ever properly delivered. Why? Because back then we lacked the kind of political unity on immigration that we now have under @KemiBadenoch’s leadership, but in opposition. Let’s be honest: after years upon years of leftist anti-colonialism and neo-Marxist ideology infiltrating our institutions, including the Home Office, only ironclad unity within the party and government will get anti-immigration policies actually implemented. Without it, you’ve always got politicians undermining things from the inside, and no chance to go head-to-head with the bureaucratic blob or activist judges who love nothing more than blocking meaningful and democratically mandated change. If Conservatives struggled to deliver on this when we were supposedly ‘in charge’, how on earth can anyone expect Labour to do anything but kick the can down the road? This is the same Labour who used to shout “racist” at every Conservative immigration policy. I have absolutely zero faith they’ll deliver a thing. So what are we looking at? A bucket being kicked all the way to 2029, by which time, maybe, we finally get a real, genuinely right-wing government ready to enforce these policies properly. Let’s just hope we don’t end up importing half of Bangladesh and Eritrea before we get there.
