He said it's because he's a Texas resident and he's seen how undocumented immigrants overwhelm public services and commit more crimes. But while Asmongold focuses his vitriol on the poorest, brownest, most law abiding and most working class demographic, he ignores the elephant in the state... The richest man in the world, Elon Musk, is now worth three quarters of a trillion dollars and he resides in Texas, where he pays ZERO income tax. And his companies, also located in Texas, receive billions in tax breaks and subsidies. An uncritical thinker like Asmongold might excuse these handouts by claiming it attracts business to the state, resulting in a net positive effect... But then why aren't public services properly funded? The GDP of Texas just saw a 6.8% annual growth rate while population growth remained BELOW the century long average of 2%. Where is all the money going? Instead of blaming the biggest parasite, Elon Musk, Asmongold blames undocumented immigrants who pay roughly 9% of their income in state and local taxes (sales, property, etc.), just like the rest of the middle and working class. I had an honest conversation with an Indian immigrant in Sylvan Lake about littering, integration, foreign conflicts, government benefits, trucking and Alberta independence. He did not avoid the difficult questions. He agreed that people who come to Canada should respect Canadian culture, obey the law and leave conflicts from their home countries behind. He said plainly: “We should try to become Canadian first.” We also discussed fraudulent trucking schools and unqualified drivers. He acknowledged that corruption and shortcuts exist, but added: many Indian truck drivers are hardworking people supporting their families, and they should not all be blamed for the actions of a minority. Towards the end he surprised me and said he supports Alberta independence! This is why I keep having these conversations. Support for Alberta independence is not limited to one race, religion or background. Many immigrants came here because they value hard work, personal responsibility, family and freedom. Those are Albertan values. An independent Alberta could control immigration, enforce merit-based entry, deport non-citizens who commit serious crimes and protect the culture that made people want to come here in the first place. Can Britain be saved? Only if a government commits to the following: 1. mass deportations of illegal migrants 2. voluntary remigration for naturalised & British-born citizens. As in Sweden, legal citizens would receive financial incentives to leave (ie a lump sum per person). Such a policy would require them to renounce their British citizenship so that they are unable to return. A lump sum makes sound economic sense given that each low-skilled migrant who becomes a citizen would otherwise cost the state £151,000 by pension age and £464,000 by 80 3. Social housing and welfare benefits to be restricted exclusively to British citizens. Non-citizens pay taxes for the privilege of living in the UK. British citizenship must bring special benefits - literally! 4. Foreign born nationals who currently have permanent residency / indefinite leave to remain will have their right to remain revoked if they are of working age and able to work but have relied on the state for support for the last two consecutive years. (This will not apply to those who can demonstrate exceptional mitigating circumstances). 5. Automatic deportation for non-citizens convicted of a crime that carries a custodial sentence. 6. Going forward, permanent residence / indefinite leave to remain will be only be granted after 5 years of residency and will be restricted to those who can demonstrate integration into wider society, a high level of English fluency and the ability to support themselves and their family (to a higher threshold than currently required). If in a relationship, their partner must be able to support them. 7. Eligibility for British citizenship: Minimum 10 years residency, of which at least 8 years must have been in full-time employment, including the last 2 consecutive years. Evidence of integration into wider society, a high level of English fluency and the ability to support themselves and their family. 8. Anyone in the UK on a visa who, after three years, cannot demonstrate a high degree of English fluency will not have their visa renewed. Will any party have the conviction to enact these measures?
