Kenny Smith explains it perfectly how once hand checking and physical permitter defense was eliminated totally in 2004-05 the game was much EASIER for guards and wings to score. Guys today are NOT way more skilled than guys in the past, they just have WAY more freedom of movement....

The NBA has also allowed more travelling & sloppy dribbling. Guys get away constantly with 2B dribbling & carrying the ball. The Steph/Harden/Haliburton step back 3 is a travel 7/10 times.

What he doesn’t explain is that today players still constantly hand-check and illegal defense being removed in 2001 made it harder for perimeter players to score.

Lmao so the average nba player improved each decade from 60s to 70s to 80s and 90s and after that they stopped and have gotten worse since then??? So the 60s were the most skilled because they had the most rule restrictions

In the original game, Bloaters were much easier to kill with a flamethrower than they were in the second game and the remake. But still, the best way to kill a Bloater in the game is to blast it with the flamethrower, back off and then blast it again once it starts coming after you to stun it some more

No. This year alone, 9 players are averaging: 25+ PPG 5+ APG 5+ RPG From 1990-2001, this happened only 9 times: Jordan (5 seasons) Drexler (1 season) Barkley (1 season) Hill (1 season) Kobe (1 season) Many fans claim players are far more superior, but in reality, four factors are inflating stats: 1. Officiating: The NBA allows more leeway on traveling, and refs heavily favor offense over defense. Players are going to the line more than ever (according to free throws per drive data), while offensive fouls are at an all-time low. Defensive 3 in the key and removal of physical hand checking has made driving easier than ever. 2. Analytics: Eliminating midrange shots and forcing far more 3-pointers has spiked scoring. 3. Pace: About 9 more possessions per game than in the 1990s. 4. Funny how LeBron fans won’t call LeBron’s first 12 seasons “plumbers” or “not skilled” era. Interesting video of guy showing how much different the game was in 2011 vs today. It basically shows how 2000’s and early 2010’s basketball is far closer to 90’s NBA than today. He points out all the non shooters in the floor, lack of spacing, etc. Even shows a clip of LeBron driving to the basket but finding no space to shoot with 3 guys around him and only a subpar shooter to pass it too. But based on LeBron fan logic, today’s players are just far more skilled than 2004-2014 so the top players today must be better than peak LeBron.

However, the way they chose to nerf it was way too far. 13 seconds was more than DOUBLE most other killers' exhaustion effects, and impossible for skilled survivors to walk off in chase. But at 3 seconds, you may as well delete the add on. I'm not sure why it couldn't have been put at 5-7 seconds like everything else.
