Fantastic. There should be a Kernel Mode Disasters show, like Air Disasters, but for OS people.

Ron Pitts narrates: Tonight, it was quiet and peaceful when they allocated the handle, but when they went to free it, little did they know the heap would be DESTROYED IN SECONDS!

Sir, this is one of the best explanation about kernel vs user mode I've heard so far. And I'm 30+ years in the IT.

Cool, the stuff that was in Redmond Mag back in the day. This is why DAWs and DVeditors use ASIO for kernel level audio access for low latency. And if they crash due to a bad plugin or some other issue it usually brings on the Blue Screen of Death and audio studder

This is awesome, really enjoyed this. Thanks Dave!

Awesome vid Dave, really enjoyed it!

Yeah virtualliztion was a huge step forward for DAWs like Protools with v10 and v11 it's system resouce management got way better and its meters for that are now way better than Task manager and it got control of memory to make its own user sizable scratch disk in ram to run

That was very interesting. Thank you.

Give me ring 0 for everything!

Well done!
