🎙️In the last month, we’ve seen Arda Güler starting from a slightly deeper position. It feels like it has been harder for him to make an impact and influence the game. What is your analysis of this? 🗣️ Xabi Alonso: I think Arda has the ability to play at different heights on the pitch and to have different kinds of influence, depending on what the team needs. He has a very good touch, he knows how to organize the play, and he also knows, in the decisive phase - when you're already in the final third - how to give the final pass, and even arrive a bit from the second line. The goal against Valencia came from a run he made, and then he crossed to Kylian. It depends on what we have around him, on the players next to him. He can adapt, and that quality gives us flexibility in our game plans. But Arda is growing a lot, and I think I said it at the Club World Cup: we need to invest a lot in Arda because he is a special player, a different player. We need to demand more from him, but we also need to understand the different phases he goes through, support him, and push him hard so he keeps performing at the level he is showing - and he can still improve, without a doubt.

I'm thinking more about/focusing on Rob Dillingham's offense at Summer League -- because while defense is ultimately a concern for a player at that size, I think we learned last year that Dillingham is at least going to be the smaller player that cares about it.
