Kevin McCarthy has two problems: 1) He stands for nothing. 2) There's no nice way to say this: He's stupid. He's famously stupid. He's an affable doofus. He's lived on his affability in a party that reveres doofus-ery.

I feel like that WAS the nice way to say that.

He is a shining example of someone who has failed up.

@Michael_Fisher_ Ladies and gentlemen, my congressman. Before redistricting it was Devin Nunes. Can’t get a break.

@jonfavs USA is such a strange country sometimes looking from the outside. Actually a lot of times.

@jonfavs Republicans should nominate a potted plant at this point!

Imagine being a Republican representative that would like to govern & who has earned the right to chair whatever committee, but you don’t get to chair that committee because an insurrectionist wants that position. There should be enough of them willing to make a deal with H. J.

Could the Dems find 8 or so Republicans and swing the vote to Jef? I'm sure there must some who want the country to govern and are not out for themselves.

18 Dems? How about 6 GOP who want to retire as committee chairs?

Is there an actual reason they keep holding votes even though they know the outcome hasn't changed? Is it proceduraly required to vote 3 times a day until there is a Speaker? Seems like they should just stop voting until they have a deal? 🤔🤷♂️

Listened to the episode last night. I think you're being too generous to any R voters who, if they were following any networks that were covering this, would be upset. My cynical take is those voters dislike "big government" already and are thrilled to witness this stall.
