Key fob liability???? What? Stop it. #car

The outside of a fob battery is the negative ground Inside the fob there is a wafer thin ground connection that is easily bent if you are not careful inserting the battery If you bend the connector and re-straighten it, it will break off & you’re fucked Buy a new fob for $300

You go to the dollar store, buy the button battery it needs for about $2.00 then spend five minutes prying it open and replacing the battery. There is no trick to it.

Had the same issue…..in case they brake the fob trying to open it (replacement costs are high). So I bought a battery at Canadian Tire, googled how to replace the battery and viola! Proud of my senior self!

I really didn't mind using a key. But. . . progress.

My dealership replaced the battery in my garage door opener for me. In all fairness, I’ve only taken my car fob to my dealership. But liability? It’s. A. Battery!!!!!!!!

Canadian here. My mechanic just sent me to a guy and he replaced one battery and made me a whole second key in the time it took me to get a Tim’s. 🤷🏾‍♂️

HAHAHAHAHA. And yes. (I admit it: I gave up. Changed my battery out, myself. Pray for me my keys don't catch on fire or something.)

You can change the batteries yourself.

I don't get it either. My battery died in my fob & I took it to a Bulbs & Batteries store and they did it. AND...for an extra miniscule fee, they will replace my battery for free for LIFE! I'm talking FREE BATTERY here!
