POST OFFICE JAILED AN INNOCENT MAN Harjinder Butoy and his wife ran a Post Office branch in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, for 5 years. They built something out of nothing. Then the auditors walked in one day and decided the numbers did not add up. Post Office accused him of stealing 206k pounds. A jury found him guilty in 2008. He was sentenced to 3 years and 3 months. Apparently prison was not punishment enough. The Post Office also slapped him with a confiscation order of 61,294.34 pounds, money he was ordered to pay back for a theft he never committed. A fine for a crime that only existed inside a broken computer system called Horizon. While he sat in a cell his wife had to move their kids into his parents house. The branch shut. The business gone. He was later declared bankrupt too. He served 18 months before release. It took until April 2021 for the Court of Appeal to finally quash his conviction, one of 39 postmasters cleared that day out of more than 700 prosecuted using evidence from the same faulty system. You would think that is the end of it. It is not. Years later he was still fighting for the rest of his compensation, having only received a fraction of the first stage payout. Clearing your name, it turns out, does not come with a same day refund. Butoy has said somebody needs to be prosecuted and locked up the way he was. I am bringing a serious matter of electoral malpractice and illegal interference to the immediate notice of the Election Commission of India. It has come to our knowledge that a person named Mojarul; who is a Personnel of the Kolkata Police, hailing from Nandigram, is unauthorizedly handling Voter Lists and actively summoning Police Personnel to the SDO Office in Haldia to cast their votes. He is reportedly instructing them to bring their Departmental I-Cards and Voter IDs for this purpose. This is a violation and illegal Interference. A Serving Police Personnel has no authority to manage voter lists or "coordinate" the voting process of other personnel in this manner. This is a clear attempt to interfere with the Postal Ballot process, potentially compromising the neutrality and secrecy of the vote for Uniformed Personnel. The involvement of a KP personnel in such activity at the Haldia SDO Office raises serious questions about the Jurisdictional Breach and influence being exerted on the ground. I urge the Election Commission of India & CEO West Bengal to take immediate cognizance of this blatant violation, investigate the role of Mojarul and under whose authority he is operating. ECI also must ensure that the Postal Ballot process remains free from the influence of middlemen or partisan elements within the Police Force.

Regarding the Eric Trump / Daniel Cormier “text scandal”, I am open to being convinced otherwise, but I do not believe for one second that Eric Trump would text something so stupid to Daniel Cormier. It’s laughably stupid on its face to think that Eric Trump would ask a UFC commentator if any of the fights are “rigged”. That he would ask it in writing. And that he would not, for example, just pick up the phone and call Dana White or Joe Rogan himself. That said, I just want to understand what happened. Daniel Cormier said he was hacked. Is that to say he was hacked at the text level, or the X post level? Did he in fact make the post, and delete it? If he made the post, did he do it as a joke to illustrate how absurd the text hack was, but realized how the post could be misinterpreted as real? Or did someone make the post from his X account he subsequently deleted it. I know there are some who are going to say he made the post in earnest, thinking the text messages were real, intending to call out the “corruption”, and he has since been threatened, deleted the post, and claimed “hack”, etc. I can tell you exactly why I do not believe, even if he made the post, he did it believing the text message was real, intending to call out the “corruption”. If Cormier seriously thought the text messages were real, he would understand that by posting it publicly, it would literally destroy the UFC, his livelihood and his legacy - in addition to the legacy of everyone who has ever competed in the UFC. There is no realm of the universe in which even if it were in fact a real text that he actually received from Eric Trump, he would post it publicly. Because it would mean the end of the UFC.
