Kill fear in the arts.
35 Kommentare

People who use GenAI are fearful of the creation process. They are afraid of trying and afraid of failing. It takes real courage to create something yourself, especially when everyone is being pressured into believing silly things like "AI is the most powerful tool in the hands of an artist". The best artists will be the ones who resist the pressure to succumb to AI and are brave enough to continue to create things themselves 🫖

Saying this as if AI bros aren't the most cowardly people. Can't even attempt to draw, do something that actually constitutes as artistic. They are so afraid of failure they have a machine do it for them and call themselves artists. Just call yourself a grifter and move on man.

Brother the AI makes errors like this and you call it art?

You're washed up

your game took actual effort to make and made a niche fanbase that is still alive to this day, nothing made in ai will ever come close that, because at that point you simply gave up on art, and are just looking for quick profit

Shut the fuck up Doug. the only thing you're afraid of is effort.

Audience never cares how something is created they just care if they enjoy it or not. As humans we also always have to adapt or be willing to adapt if not you will just get left behind.

Fear is the mind killer.

In summary, 'All you youngins are too jacked up on adderall to see how exploiting others creative labor is cool and really creative actually.'

How can you claim to be a follower of Christ and support something so destructive that’s built upon mass theft?

I made an 18 min stop-motion paper cutout pilot all by myself. I did it mainly to challenge myself and to see what I can accomplish on my own, and it seems kinda rare. 💯

anti ai cultists will throw a myriad of insults at you. "You grew out of relevance", "you threw away your standards", etc. Nothing but emotion and whining

That's a lot of words to say that you're grifting.

Doug, Denver Jackson made 3 feature length animated films by himself, but it cost him multiple years of 24/7 grinding and spending all his life savings to do so. Not sustainable. But I doubt he or your haters have the burden of a spouse/kids to feed.

Agree or disagree with Doug, but he’s one of the most successful, prolific, and creative independent artists of the last 30 years ❤️ he’s also a super nice dude irl 💯

15 minutes of nothing, no one respects you, you're a has been and a laughingstock on Twitter, gl hf

I tend to kill fear with my farts.

Just take the L and retire with whatever dignity you still have

I have been trying to find evidence that you even make art and I have failed. Can you provide it?

Well Said much respect. I 1000% agree with every point.

Have you used any AI tools at home yet? Have you AI generated a decent Earthworm Jim image?

>Fear is the Mind Killer

I feel quite the contrary. Negative emotions such as fear, sadness and even depression always contributed to the realization of my best projects. You've got to harness this energy and create something honest, something AI will never accomplish for you.

I agree with all of this. 2D animation tanked just as I got my first feature film role. I didn't even think to complain like these anti-AI guys; I just adapted and went on to the next thing. Video games, Comics, Toy design, children's books, and educational media. etc. If you can't adapt, you were probably not going to make a living in the arts anyway, so go learn a high-paying trade and have art as a hobby. You will be much happier.

Watched the whole video and way more convincing and human. Tweets sound terse and judgmental but the talking to camera really humanizes your point. Thanks for sharing.

We get it you are a jaded slop merchant . And because u have been a jaded washed up slop merchant for quite some time you think it gives your opinion relevance or weight . But sadly it carries the same weight and worth as AI art which is substantally lower than dogshit.

Well said. I am truly excited to see what the small creators will do in 2026 and beyond with AI.

I was the key demo when earthworm Jim came out. My buddies and I loved the game. You came up in my feed. I don’t play games much anymore but I was curious about your feed so browsed it. It’s sad how many idiots reply to you. You don’t need to argue with idiots. You’re the Man

Totally agree. The tech is still in a very early stage, but the idea of having a concept and getting an image of it almost instantly is really fascinating

Please more Nuance like that and less Rage-Bait.

Earthworm Jim would be disappointed in you.

Sort-of agree. Growing up with a multi-skilled Circus performer, Architect Dad I have to say that maybe I just enjoy seeing the fruits of skill. Not against AI but I just love the fact Frank Oz is wiggling Yodas mouth in Empire. That someone's performing the illusion you know?

Great video, Doug! I don't fear Ai. I'm working hard on my own non-Ai projects. I was making 'edgy' content, but have outgrown that. Now I just want to make something that anyone that enjoys humor in video games or cartoons can enjoy. So that's what I'm doing.

What the actual hell 💀

Powerful truth.
