SNAP benefits are for American citizens our immigration laws clearly state that as an immigrant it is forbade to be a charge to the country, unlawful entry is strike one accessing benefits you’re not entitled to is strike two and should be the end of the argument.

It’s not something that’s intended, it’s whatever in the head, we just say it then. That’s the style, it’s not like a planned ‘thank you’ kinda thing. For example, if P’Lena does something little like dropping me home, buying me snacks, or ordering me food, I’d be like ‘thank you’. That’s our normal reaction. 🦋: that’s right. We both really understand each other’s wavelength/vibe. For instance, if I feel down while working, she’s the first one that knows and can sense my wavelength before anyone else (before manager and mum). So I feel lucky to work with someone who understands how I feel. *says thank you to Miu* 🧸: it’s not even intentional. To be honest, I didn’t know I’d be able to read her, but it’s more that I approach her when I feel her face is a little strange (from normal). Like when she’s sat still getting her makeup done and not doing anything, I’ll approach and know how to handle (the situation). Ears out, tail swinging – Kaikai is on a mission. And then, just like that, she runs out of steam and plonks down for an impromptu dust bath and siesta! When she arrived in our care, we knew we were in for an uphill battle. An orphaned newborn, she was confused and missing her mother, spending her first nights pacing her stable and crying. We assigned two of our most experienced Keepers to her care, and as the days and weeks unfolded, Kaikai started to heal from her emotional trauma. Today? She is full of mischief and growing by the day.

I’ve gotten to know so many good souls who go into people’s homes and provide direct care for those with disabilities and seniors. Because of direct care workers like Cheryl, who takes care of her aging mother, more of our seniors and disabled Pennsylvanians are able to stay in their homes and get the care they need. Let’s continue to show we care for our neighbors by supporting direct care and home care workers like Cheryl with increased wages, paid time off, and access to affordable health insurance.
