For people coming at me about this I was diagnosed with epilepsy at 19 same year Lehner came to our team. His free story in Athletic helped me to apply his strength to my own life and he became an idol to me as I was in high stress nursing school having full blown seizures in front of classmates. I was scared, upset and embarrassed. I said in my hospital bed “how can I be a nurse if I can’t even help myself?” I cried. It was a rough time. I found his story and reread it that season. He was standing on an NHL stage with his mental battle. It was inspiring to me. Cheesy, but if he could that, I could be strong too. I also really jumped into something that helped me release stress. Talking about hockey, podcasting, radio and going to games. And I was a big Lehner fan. He thanked me for getting his jersey that I received from my grandma as they drove me to my neurologist appointment. (I couldn’t drive as that was taken from me as a new epileptic) When my grandmother passed, who was my best friend, Lehner sent me condolences. It was an uphill climb but I haven’t a seizure in years due to medication and still follow this sport which I love. Lehner was a big idol in one of the roughest parts of my life. I now spread epilepsy awareness and even wrote a paper for work for November epilepsy awareness month for the nurses on proper care for epileptic patients. He taught me to speak up and spread awareness rather than feel shame. This video is me having a seizure streaming hockey. I’m not ashamed of it. Let others see what a seizure looks like. (I do not remember talking when the seizure happened)

My husband wanted to get to know his dad better so he started his own project. They zoom a couple times a month and he asks his dad about a different part of this life growing up. This summer, my husband’s mother passed - 65 years married to his father. It was an incalculable loss and just after we laid her to rest my husband said he was thinking about canceling the next interview. He worried that it might be too difficult for his dad to talk about all of these years with his beloved bride. He worried it might be too soon. He did not want to burden his dad with more grief. But I assured him the only thing that could possibly even make a dent in that type of grief would be to share a little time with his son. He worried it might be too sad, but even though everyone is still grieving they decided to go ahead and do it anyway. As I watched him talk with his father, and I heard the laughter and the joy I couldn’t help but think of Mom and the legacy of Love she left between these two men, father and son, peers and brothers in Christ. I watched grief collapse under the weight of their joy just to be sharing something together. May we all be so blessed with fathers who see us as their antidotes to pain, and sons who want to be with us.

Today we were told that the kings health has taken a turn for the worse, and as we await news, it’s hard to shake the feeling that the nation is losing its collective grandfather or father. King Harald was the first king to be born in Norway in 567 years. Since then he has been part of the Norwegian experience in so many ways, like a personification of a modern Norway. As a young child he had to flee the country when Germany occupied Norway during WW2, he spent part of his childhood as a refugee in the US. He would later grow up, and fall in love with and marry a commoner. Despite his father originally being against it. He also represented us in the Olympics, as a sailor, multiple times. He carried our flag in the Tokyo Olympics. He was also a lifelong football fan, a Tottenham fan to be specific, and a lover of sports in general. He has been present for numerous Norwegian athletes over the years. And he has also been present for so many ordinary Norwegians, whether they were going through the better or the worse part of their lives. But despite all that, king Harald had large shoes to fill when he started his reign. His father, king Olav, was loved. But over the years, king Harald has earned the people’s hearts. And he has done so by being there by our side, crying with us when the nation was hurting, celebrating when we had reason to celebrate. He has openly embraced that Norwegian people come in many different forms and shapes, and has had an amazing ability to be everyone’s king. A rock that we could all rely on. So, as we brace for the news, whatever they may be, one thing is for sure.. it has been a privilege and an honor to grow up in King Harald Vs Norway. We couldn’t have asked for a better king 🌹

“For a long time, I was a guest in our house” Thierry Henry speaks from his soul. He has depth. He’s a man in touch with himself. I recall some years ago, he spoke about how much he wanted to please his father on Steven Bartlett Diary of a CEO podcast. Everything he aimed to achieve was to please the voice that rang in his head, telling him to do it better. His father stood behind him while he built a career, probably saw the good many never saw. As a father, he also mentioned how COVID-19 changed his life. It was the point he chose his family. That was probably why he said at some point, he became a guest in his house. Men become guests in their house. There was a Reminisce Alaga interview I saw. I think it was on ISaidWhatISaidPod. He said there was a point he went into his daughter(s) room and asked when they painted the wall pink. His wife told him it’s been there for two years. He said that was the point he thought it important to rest on the tours and be with his children. At that point, he probably was a guest in his house. Men’s lives are not easy. Footballers especially — elite footballers most especially are like tour musicians. They’re often on the road. You’re playing away games round the country, spending three days or more away from home when you have continental away games. Gabriel Jesus spoke about the same thing in his recent interview with The Players’ Tribune titled “A Letter to My Family and my Arsenal Family”. He said football made him distant but his ACL injury brought him closer. “I wasn’t the husband and father that I needed to be,” he said. When his wife gave birth to his daughter, he said he only held her for one day. Brazil called and he had to go. And he was a guy who grew up without a father. For his child at the time, he was there now but wasn’t there too. “I always promised myself: When I become a father, I will always be there for my kids. “When Helena was born, I was not living up to that. I was there, but I was always distracted, you know? Always catching a flight.” That’s the tough decisions men have to make sometimes. At the point of growth and ascent, life will ask questions, and difficult decisions will need to be made. Hopefully, it will be one that won’t damage the future. The future one is securing.

I just interviewed Pastor Chuck Swindoll. Chuck is 91 now, and he is still full of energy and passion, still serving the Lord. He's lost most of his eyesight — but not his insight. What a model he is for me. Chuck Smith was the same way. I once asked him what an older Chuck would tell a younger Chuck. His response: "Hold the course." Billy Graham was the same way. I introduced a friend to Billy some years ago, and my friend thanked him for his service. Billy responded, "I wish I had done more." Here was a man who preached the Gospel to more people than anyone in history — and standing near the end of his life, his only regret was that he hadn't done more. In the same way, we must be about our Father's business. Billy Graham said it well: "God never meant for us to be spectators. Every believer is called to be on the field, not in the stands." We never retire from serving God.

I was on my mission when President Holland gave his “Safety for the Soul” talk about the Book of Mormon. I remember feeling the fire, but that’s not the talk that had the most impact on my life. While I was a missionary, I discovered a talk he gave called “Within the Clasp of Your Arms.” He wasn’t an apostle at the time. I loved it, but it took many years for me to finally understand it. Most of my childhood was spent growing up with an absent father—visiting him in prison, seeing him get arrested, watching him live as a homeless alcoholic and drug addict, hearing him fight with my mom, or once even threatening to kick us out in the middle of the night. I have some good memories of him, but not many. Then I became a dad. At the time, I was serving as stake clerk and preparing for a stake priesthood meeting. Something reminded me of this talk (I assume it was the Spirit), and I decided to listen to it again. The talk finally hit me like a ton of bricks. The Spirit gave me, I think, the strongest and most loving rebukes I’ve ever received in my life. I was crying on my way to the meeting. I was crying during the meeting. I was crying while listening to my stake president speak—which, ironically, was about being good, loving fathers. I was crying after the meeting. Afterward, we (the stake presidency) met quickly to discuss the meeting, and my stake president, who had noticed all my crying, asked me to give the opening prayer. I never got to meet him, but this experience made me feel closer to him. I’m not a perfect father, and I wasn’t a bad father then. I just had some things I seriously needed to work on. I’ve tried my hardest to live by what I learned that day. I repent when I fail to meet that expectation. I love President Holland. I’m going to miss him.

Just finished watching the Reluctant Traveler for the 4th time. Prince William truly is an amazing man. The late Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana are very much present and mentioned. Will Ospreay has revealed part of the reason behind why Baba O'Riley was chosen for his AEW All In 2026 entrance was because the song was used for an MV Zone tribute video to Bryan Danielson in 2011. "There was a song that we wanted, but we just couldn’t get a licence fee for it. I won’t put it out there because maybe one of these days I will be able to track it down again. I’d like to leave that as a surprise. But it was Mike Mansury that came up with the idea of The Who Baba O’Riley. "I’ll be honest with you, I have a connection with that song because there was a music video from the MV Zone. It was like a kind of little backyard wrestling music video group, and they did a Bryan Danielson tribute to that song, so I have a little bit of a connection to it. "I was just okay, I quite like the idea and The Who is British as well, so that’s kind of cool. But I remember listening to it and on the travels that me and Al (Alex Windsor) did, and I was just like, I don’t know if I feel it. The other song that I wanted got my juices flowing. I remember the screen, the headphones, and an old man telling a story about a coat and a pair of worn out shoes and the gospel coming through him so plainly. That’s the thing about Hinckley. He never raised his voice. He didn’t need to. He spoke the way a father speaks when he knows what he knows, quietly, without performance, without trying to convince you. The authority wasn’t borrowed. It wasn’t the authority of a king or an office or a pulpit. It was the authority of a man telling the truth, and you could feel it in your chest before your mind caught up.
