Violence against women and girls is an epidemic on our streets, in our communities, and in our homes. The devastating murder of Sarah Montgomery, a loving mother of two, has once again tragically shone a light on the deep-rooted misogyny in our society that continues to steal women’s lives. As your First Minister, I refuse to accept that this culture of misogyny is untouchable. I will continue working night and day to support women’s organisations and empower our local communities, so that together, we can rip the roots of misogyny from our society.

It has now been 12 months since I began my posting as Australia’s Ambassador to the UAE and it has been a tremendous experience. Our team is thrilled with all that we have achieved so far with our Emirati partners, including the negotiation and signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. We are looking forward to taking the bilateral relationship to new heights as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Australia’s diplomatic relationship with the UAE in 2025. This video provides a snapshot of the year in review.

Today, I joined the community in Gasabo District, Rutunga Sector, Kigabiro Cell, Rukerereza Village for Umuganda. Together, we gathered in recognition of World Water Day, International Day of Forests, and World Meteorological Day important moments that remind us how much we depend on nature every single day. One of the main activities was tree planting. As I placed a young tree into the soil, It reminded me that every tree we plant is a promise to protect our land, to preserve our water, and to leave something better for the next generation. Planting trees should not be seen as a one-day ! It is something each of us should take part in, wherever we are. Because when we plant a tree, we are growing hope, protecting life, and investing in our future. #Umuganda #PlantATree

💙 what would you like to be doing 12 years from now? 🐹 the members and I talk about this often. we’d like to be on stage until we can’t move. we’ll each have our life, but we’ll also go on stage together. and if we have our own family, we could bring them and do the performance together. we’re talking about 10,20,30 years from now. I agree with that. I want to be on stage when I’m 50. I’ve imagined a lot of that.

Soyeon on the name change & new lightstick: It's like a sign of determination to move on to the next chapter. So with this new lightstick… of course we feel a little sad about it too. But since we changed from (G)I-DLE to i-dle, Neverland too, let's all go to the next chapter together. Instead of just saying "it's a shame" about what we did before, if we had stayed as (G)I-DLE, I think I would've thought, "I'd probably have to do something like 'LATATA' again. I'd probably have to do something like 'TOMBOY' again." But because we're i-dle now, it creates new things I can challenge myself with again. So I'm very satisfied with removing the "G" and becoming i-dle. Somehow, we've ended (G)I-DLE… and now that we're i-dle, I thought, "Let's do something new." So this lightstick too, I think it would be nice if you could see it that way. We're taking a new path, so Neverland, let's walk it together in a new way too. Like starting a new chapter with a new heart, let's go again. When you start with a new heart, you end up loving it more, and more new thoughts come. Let's go together like this. Ukraine–Southeast Europe Summit. I am glad that we are all together, and that this format – the joint work of Ukraine and countries of South-Eastern Europe – is active and meaningful. By working together, supporting one another, and building common security, defense, economic, political, and cultural ties, we make it possible for each of our nations – and for every nation in Europe – to preserve our identity and freely shape our own future. I am grateful to you for your readiness to continue supporting our fight for independence. What i kept seeing just through observation and listening was a brotherhood formed through creativity and through proximity, through living together, working together, growing up together and carrying an enormous weight together. They are holding something that I do not think any one person could fully fathom or carry alone. But as OT7, they are able to face it."
