Ava Cooper has a new "lease on life" after she had a successful heart transplant. Cooper underwent her first heart surgery at the age of 6 days old. She had four open-heart surgeries by the age of 5. In September of 2024, Ava was put on the heart transplant waiting list. In March, she finally got the call. Following the surgery, Ava spent the next month in the hospital recovering and was able to go home after 8 months. She is showing no signs of rejection and is functioning well, according to Dr. Madeleine Townsend. "I was so excited to be back in my own bedroom and be able to see my dog Rocky again," Ava said.
