Squaring The Face Controlling your golf ball is all about managing the club face. Understanding the how the arms will influence the club face is key. The lead arm will have some internal rotation in the backswing, therefore we will need to add external rotation to this arm through the release. If we fail to do this, we will leave the face open and often bring in more chicken wing/scoop patterns through contact. Learning to externally rotate the lead arm will help you keep a flat lead wrist and deliver a stronger loft. If you’re a player who tends to slice or fade the ball, this concept will help you to feel what you need to square it up. I just posted the full version of this lesson on the ProShopApp!!! As requested by Alex Miller yesterday, a look at our out of possession shape in the first half. 1: (10 secs) - Wednesday in a very narrow high block in a 523 out of possession. It only looked like this when the ball is central. Nowrich rotate (change positions during play) a lot and this narrow block denies central rotation. In this clip, they have had rotation in left back position as the CM has dropped into the area and left back on the last line. 2: 20 secs - When the ball went wide or started to move wide, the full back would advance up the pitch to pressure the full back and press full back to full back, whilst the CBs would come out with the Norwich forwards coming in between the lines, as this ball transitions across the pitch you see Sargent come out and Iorfa following tight. Fusire in this clip has come out to mark full back to full back and creating a makeshift back 4. 3: 47 secs - Wednesday get back into their narrow block shape 4: 56 secs - rotation from the front line form Norwich 5: 58 seconds, Palmer comes out of the back line to pick up the rotation and prevent space between lines. As the player turns to our left, Amass starts to come out to pick up full back to full back on the other side. In summary, Wednesday played their familiar 523 blocking shape out of possession but it was much more proactive in the back 5 than we usually see it, with full backs and Cbs following rotations and stepping out of the backline to prevent space between lines. It worked, first half. Norwich combated it a little better second half. Will get a clip out tomorrow of what they did

Want Better balance? Try this simple drill. Most golfers aren’t thinking about weight through the feet. They are often focused on some of the bigger things they see like an Over The Top or a Hanging Back Yet how we use the ground will massively impact those moves and in turn influences our ball striking As you know, in the downswing we want some lateral shift of the lower body and rotation. This drill helps you achieve both. Simply doing this will create awareness of where you are and that is the starting point of change. #golfball #golf

Asked Chris Finch about the adjustment in Mike Conley's role this season and what that process has been like. In his answer he talked a bit about the rotation big picture "We're getting up to the point here where we might even shrink the rotation a little bit smaller, and then everybody (who plays) minutes will level out". For context, the Wolves have been playing a 10-man rotation for most of the season, but with the 9th and 10th guys often playing between 4 and 8 total minutes. So I read that as the leveling out coming in the form of removing one guy so everyone who plays is receiving 10+ minutes a night. These were the 10 players who played tonight while the Wolves were at full-strength Gobert Randle McDaniels (got hurt tonight) Edwards DiVincenzo Reid Conley Hyland Shannon Clark (Rob Dillingham has not been in the 10-man rotation of late when the Wolves are at full-strength.)

Many golfers who come over the top have transition backwards. They feel like the downswing starts with rotation, so they spin open from the top, throwing the club out and over the plane. Hello, slice. The fix isn’t no rotation. It’s better sequence. Starting the downswing with a lateral move toward the target not only shifts pressure into the lead side, it helps shallow the club. Now rotation becomes an asset. With the club shallow, a player can rotate as aggressively as they want and the path stays on plane. The lateral shift earns the right to turn hard. This is one of the ways we teach coaches to use force plate data in our advanced seminars.
