Another basic difference between Soviet & Russian propaganda: Soviets preached “they’re bad, we’re good”. Russians preach “they’re bad, so we have to be bad too”, They sell a model of the world where there’s no place for good. Blunt force instead of it.

🇺🇸 It's shocking to hear these techniques, & recognize they've bn in use here by Trump/GOP from "alternate facts" to "post truth" for some years now. Hope you have a text of this 4:35 📹, or will issue one:

Yes it’s an organic disease travelling the globe. This is part of a longer video on Russian propaganda on my main YT channel.

A related idea is that if people are surrounded by constant lies, they can no longer distinguish true from false. And it quickly follows that they then also start to lose the ability to see right from wrong. The German historian Hannah Arendt talks about this in depth. Social media is the perfect tool for this strategy. Actors both in the deep state and in service of private agendas can create so many alternative assertions of the truth that no one knows what to believe anymore. Historically, it was the role of the media to parse through all of these assertions and find which ones were actually true. Now that all mainstream media has consolidated to fewer than six corporate owners, and has take sides on one side of the political spectrum, no one is performing that role effectively. This makes the current situation with social media dangerous and a perfect playground for manipulation.

Russian 🇷🇺 war crimes script: 1: It never happened. 2: It happened but Ukraine did it. 3: They were all Nazis, so they deserved what didn't happen. 4: What didn't happen to deserving Nazis were actors and/or was staged. 5: What about Iraq? 6: Repeat.
