So glad this got attention. My favourite @Kojima_Hideo quote is “As a creator, I always want to betray fans expectations.” Everything he does as a creator seems subversive. It’s important to remember that we had to develop a lot of the great tools and engines we have today over time. Real ingenuity came from people like kojima who could push the boundaries of creativity using even rudimentary tools.

God that’s insanely clever. I do think there is a bit of over reliance on digital tools these days. Sometimes you just really get a better feel(figuratively and literally) for something when you can touch it.

I agree. Analog can really force you to push your imagination whilst being grounded to real world limitations

Damn, yeah that's actually a really smart way to plan out the layout of a level before Grayboxing was a thing.

I may need to steal this idea in the future, my son has 2 80 litre tubs of lego at home, i could map an entire metroidvania game!!

it's such an obvious and yet underrated way of demonstrating what needs to be done

Yeah, if you don’t have the tools, analog is fine

@airbagged i already knew kojima was a demented, twisted, creative evil genius. but the total disregard for color cohesion in those blocks reaffirmed it.
