SARA DUTERTE TARGETS AKBAYAN, RISA HONTIVEROS IN IMPEACHMENT CRITICISM WATCH: Vice President Sara Duterte says the Akbayan party-list has no credibility in endorsing an impeachment complaint against her, claiming that no evidence were attached to support the allegations in that complaint. She also cites a portion of the 2024 speech of Sen. Risa Hontiveros, who is associated with Akbayan, wherein Hontiveros said that Duterte is supported by China. Upon serious consultation with the petitioners of the 2nd impeachment complaint, which I and Cong. De Lima endorsed, they intend to withdraw their case and instead throw their support behind the 3rd impeachment complaint. Kasama ng mga complainants, nais kong diinan na hindi ito pag-urong, kundi pagpapatuloy ng kanilang sinimulan higit isang taon na ang nakaraan. From the beginning, their intent in filing was clear: Build the strongest case that will hold Vice President Sara Duterte accountable for her acts of corruption and abuse of power. Ngayon pa lang, may ibang kaalyado ng Vice President na natutuwa sa pagwi-withdraw ng complaint, thinking this shows a weakening of the case against her. Pasensya na po kung babasagin ko ang trip nila. Mas pinadadali pa nga natin ang pagpapa-impeach sa kanya. With one less complaint, we are now expediting Vice President Sara Duterte’s long-delayed day of accountability.
