BREAKING: An IRGC base was destroyed in an airstrike in Iran's Kurdistan province. The CIA has been working to arm Kurdish forces. Huge columns of smoke rose over the city of Baneh this morning after a base belonging to the IRGC was destroyed. Strikes also hit across the border in Iraqi Kurdistan on Wednesday. Last month, five groups, including the PDKI and PAK, announced a political coalition to seek the overthrow of the Iranian government and ultimately secure Kurdish self-determination. CNN reported that the CIA has been working to arm Kurdish forces and that Washington has been in discussions with Kurdish leaders with the aim of providing military support, citing several people familiar with the plan.

Two years ago, I had the honor of visiting the headquarters of the Kurdistan Freedom Party. Today, they are part of the Kurdish Coalition formed in opposition to the Iranian Regime. Some reports say groups within this coalition may be working alongside the United States Armed Forces as potential ground operations against Iran are discussed. Nothing is confirmed. But what is certain is the courage of the men and women I met. These soldiers carry the hopes of a people who have struggled for generations. Their sacrifice, their loyalty, and their unwavering belief in a free Kurdistan is something the world should never forget. We remain forever grateful for their dedication and the patriots they are. Their greatest gift to Kurdistan is their unbreakable commitment to fight for a future liberated from oppression. Stand strong, our brothers and sisters.

Why does the world ignore the rights of the Kurdish people? Why are policies imposed on the Kurdish people, while their most basic rights are overlooked? How long will the Kurdish people be denied a simple right — to see their leaders standing in international forums with the flag of Kurdistan behind them? Why are Kurdish leaders forced to stand before flags that do not represent them or the aspirations of their people? Why is the Kurdish people expected to respect the flag of a government that seeks their destruction? Is it not the right of a nation of 60 to 70 million people to have its flag and identity recognized?

I met with the President of Moldova Maia Sandu. We discussed steps toward achieving a sustainable peace and strengthening our bilateral cooperation. For Ukraine, the current priority is a full ceasefire lasting at least 30 days. This should establish a foundation for diplomacy. We also addressed energy security, European integration, the impact of recent elections in Europe on political processes, and hybrid threats from Russia. I thank Maia Sandu and all the people of Moldova for their support of Ukraine and their readiness to continue moving shoulder to shoulder with us in the European integration process.

International Community During the past days, the occupying forces of Iran, under the command of Khamenei, killed the peaceful uprising of our nation's children in the cities of Kermanshah, Lorestanat and Bakhtiari with direct fire. Today, in the brutal attack of the Islamic Republic troops on the peaceful march of the people of Malekshahi, Ilam, at least 7 young people of the Kurdish nation have died and dozens of people have been injured without access to hospitals. In addition to this, the government forces raid people's homes and have arbitrarily arrested dozens of people and made their fate unknown. While condoling the families of the victims and condemning this crime against humanity, I demand from President Trump, the heads of free countries and international organizations to take quick measures to prevent the killing of the people of Kurdistan, Lorestan and Bakhtiari, which have now become the focus of the uprising against the Islamic Republic. Our people in these areas need to implement the principle of “Responsibility to Protect” and establish a “No-Fly Zone” to be safe from massacre. Kurdistan and the Kurdish nation are strong actors in containing Tehran and in solidarity with the international community.
