Caitlin Clark went off 🔥 tonight in front of an angry crowd in Portland‼️ Tons of Trans activists showed up to boo the Indiana Fever after Caitlin’s teammate Sophie Cunningham made a comment about not wanting men competing in women’s sports. And as you can see Caitlin was also being fouled all night as usual as the refs completely ignored it. Caitlin didn’t let that stop her though. George Kittle on the electrical substation next to the 49ers facility: “The one thing that messes me up with it, this is tough, my rookie season there used to be trees in between the substation and our practice facility. There’s a fence there too and above the fence all the trees had no leafs on them, year round, all dead. Nobody notices it until you point it out. I didn’t point it out to Kyle Shanahan until 2021. A vet pointed it out to me my rookie season and I was like 'That’s kind of weird'. But then this year the NFL came in and cut them all down. So they’re not there anymore so no one can see them. So it’s only us vets that know that was the truth. I don’t think anyone talked about that yet. That one messed me up.”

Next possession, he assists a made three & then immediately presses him full court & runs him to the corner. He does that for the rest of the game Michigan goes on a 14-4 run in 4 minutes & Yaxel accounts for 12 of those points without taking a single shot (assists, forced TO’s, blocks). That basket was his last one of the game. He nearly dropped a 30 point triple double on 73/80/100 shooting splits but the most impressive thing was his defense. This is Top 5 pick material, I don’t give a damn if he’s 23. You want instant impact, you draft this man asap.

Something I feel enormously fortunate to have covered directly was Kyle Busch's 100th career O'Reilly Series win at Nashville in 2021. There's also a story from the press conference I'd like to share. Nashville 2021 was the first "normal" race weekend after peak COVID, which meant the garage was open and media availabilities would take place in the media center instead of remotely over Zoom (including from the press box). It was my first race working as a reporter in the media center, and I was still getting my bearings as far as in-person press conferences and talking off the cuff as opposed to doing things over Zoom. Daniel McFadin asked Kyle about which of his 100 wins were his favorites, a question which I had also wanted to ask. Kyle started talking about them and also about some of the ones he missed out on - Namely his debut at Charlotte in '03, which gave him a chance to take a tongue-in-cheek dig at all the criticism he got for racing in the series as much as he did. "That would've been cool. Damn Kenseth. Those Cup guys, they shouldn't run Xfinity. I don't know why they do." Kyle then got asked about the origins of the bow and recalled it starting with a win at Charlotte, but he couldn't remember the year - at which point I interjected "4!", which got him rolling again but maybe was a bit bold of me to do as someone who was still very new. It was my turn to ask a question next so I asked him about some of the sponsorship partners from all of his wins in the series and if he had heard from any of them. Afterwards, Kyle walked by my workspace while I still had the Racing Reference page for Charlotte 2004 up, so I mentioned it to Kyle again and quickly summarized with something along the lines of this: "It says you beat McMurray, Harvick, and Stewart that day. They were all in the top five." To which Kyle showed a bit of the quick wit he had: "Damn Cup guys."

Coaches: I understand most rosters are set for next season. However, I've spoken to a number of people who have spots available, but are holding out for a specific position. Next week is August. In my opinion if you have a scholarship to give, now is the time to take the "best available player". Former Panola Basketball point guard Christian Henry (Showtimechris) was granted an injunction allowing for a fifth-year. He finished his career at Panola averaging 14.3 ppg and 4.7 apg, while leading a 26-7 team to an appearance at Hutch - where he was one of the standout players of the NJCAA Tournament. He then moved onto Eastern Michigan where he averaged 14.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists; while shooting 37% from 3-point range before transferring to Fordham last season. At Fordham, he suffered a mid-season injury. But still finished the season making 30 appearances with 23 starts while averaging 10.7 ppg, 3.4 rpg and 5.1 apg. His assists/game (#2) and assist-to-turnover ratio (#8) were among the best in the Atlantic 10. There are no red flags here. He would be an immediate upgrade to any LM-MM program. Note: I apologize. I have no Fordham highlights.

We have to acknowledge the progress while also calling out poor officiating, especially when it directly costs us results🤝🏾 I can’t fault the boys for a performance that was more than good enough to win the game. They gave everything, from their consistent effort they scored and it was denied, and they were denied a clear penalty too. It can’t only be about missed chances. No team converts every opportunity, but the ones you do score should count if you shut the back door. We were in a position to win this match if the officiating was fair, simple as that. For us as Kaizer Chiefs, this is the kind of performance you build on, not break down. We should be proud and positive behind the boys. We’re sitting 4th on the log, just 4 points behind the log leaders. How does that make us the “worst team”? The season is long, and right now, what the team needs most is positive energy. No one is going to support Kaizer Chiefs for us. No one is going to encourage our boys for us, and we actually have real positives to rally behind. I am still 100% behind the boys and the technical team❤️✌🏾
