Kyle Long wants the Bears to bench the quarterback who just beat the Eagles. Bears head coach Ben Johnson did not start Tyson Bagent against the Philadelphia Eagles because Bagent missed almost the entire week of practice while in the NFL concussion protocol. The Bears’ QB3, Case Keenum, stepped up and led Chicago to a 27-7 win over the Eagles. Keenum was 24 of 34, 70.6 percent, 247 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, a 110.8 passer rating, and a rushing touchdown. Kyle Long wants Tyson Bagent to start against the Jets instead of Keenum. Bagent was not drafted. He signed with Chicago as an undrafted free agent. Bagent’s case for the job is 10 snaps in relief of Caleb Williams against the Vikings. He was 5 of 9 for 54 yards, no interception, and took a sack on the final play that put him in concussion protocol. Competent. Not the line Keenum just put up. I can’t see benching the veteran’s hot hand after that performance against the Eagles unless there’s a glaring issue with the Jets defense that favors Bagent.
