On July 13, a confrontation reportedly broke out at Amrutha's residence. During the altercation, Surya allegedly attacked her with a knife, stabbing her in the chest and back before fleeing the spot. However, he was caught by local residents. Her family members rushed her to hospital, where she remained under treatment for more than 48 hours before succumbing to her injuries. Following the incident, the JB Nagar police registered a case against both Dhanush and Surya. The duo has since been arrested and is being interrogated. Police had earlier registered a case of murder and have imposed murder charges after her death.
