Labor produced a clumsy and deeply flawed package of legislation that collapsed under scrutiny, divided the parliament, and risked encroaching on fundamental freedoms. As a result of Liberal Party action, the legislation has been narrowed, strengthened and properly focused on keeping Australians safe.

The Liberal Party made a commitment to the victims’ families of the Bondi terrorist attack that we would deliver for them in the Parliament, and we delivered on that commitment. We will continue our focus on lower taxes, more affordable energy, bringing the budget back under control and keeping Australians safe.

I say to Sussan Ley, don’t cut a dodgy backroom deal with Labor on their legislation before Parliament. These proposals have been rushed. They haven’t been reviewed properly and we don’t know the unintended consequences on the freedom of Australians to have genuine debate. Parliament won’t even see what’s in the Bill until tomorrow morning, on the same day we are expected to pass it under a gag on debate! Let’s take the time to get the law right and focus on stamping out the real problem, fundamentalist Islamic extremism. That’s what Australians expect politicians to do.

The Australian people have spoken on Labor’s dystopian Digital ID legislation and firmly rejected it. Tomorrow I will table a petition signed by 65,724 people calling on the Senate to repeal this insidious legislation. I want to express my thanks and admiration for these Australians standing for their privacy rights and the individual freedoms that this legislation seeks to undermine. I also want to acknowledge the courage of the thousands of Australians who gathered in cities around the country on the 5th of May to protest this legislation. In contrast to the hatred and violence of the useful idiots on university campuses, these protests were peaceful, orderly and stood for Australian values rather than the genocide of Israelis. One Nation is committed to the repeal of this legislation, effectively a joint effort by Labor and the Coalition to monitor and control the Australian people. We know the former Coalition government spent about 600 million dollars preparing for a national digital ID system. We know Labor has allocated another 288 million dollars in the Budget. We know this bill was rushed through the Senate with no debate and no scrutiny. We can safely predict it will sail through the House of Representatives – perhaps even today. We know Labor says it will be voluntary, but we also know this is a lie because the bill has provisions to make it mandatory in several circumstances. But thanks to this petition, we also know that many Australians are opposed to it and I call on the Senate to act accordingly.

Labor Senator Murray Watt says the hate speech bill has been misrepresented and argues the public should not fear the government misusing these powers to restrict freedoms. He insists Labor treasures democratic values and would never use the legislation to crack down on rights.

The vote on Assisted Dying this week could be derailed after a group of cross-party MPs proposed an amendment to the new laws. The MPs say there hasn't been sufficient scrutiny of the legislation and there should be an independent review and public consultation.

The Labor government's push for record immigration poses unnecessary risks. Today, the Albanese Labor Government will attempt to legislate a proposed influx of foreign families, allowing access to benefits meant for Australians. The irresponsible nature of this legislation will further strain our housing, infrastructure, and welfare systems. This bill, driven by the government's focus on increasing our population through immigration and keeping wages low by importing labor, neglects the urgent issue of unemployment among capable Australians. Instead of an overreliance on importing foreign labor, we need to review our out-of-control welfare spending in a way that encourages fit and healthy Australians to re-enter the workforce and helps balance the budget. By disregarding the realities of our economy and the needs of Australian citizens, Labor continues to act against the best interests of our nation. We must prioritize the well-being of Australians first.

The Government’s AHR and Surrogacy legislation enables the denial of natural motherhood, the exploitation of financially vulnerable women and the commodification of children. Surrogacy is massively abusive of human rights and is rightly banned in most European countries. This legislation received no challenging scrutiny in the Dáil. Please contact your politicians and demand a pause on this legislation so that its full implications can be considered by the public. Johnson: We're working on a package of legislation that will reduce premiums for all Americans, not just 7% of them. And and I've been talking to every one of these colleagues in the tough districts about that. So stay tuned. There's more to come.

A seat in the House of Lords is about service. Being reintroduced today, as the Archbishop of Canterbury, was a moment to pause and reflect on that responsibility. I take this role seriously - drawing on my faith and seeking to bring careful scrutiny to legislation, in service of the common good, for people of all faiths and of none.

The European Parliament’s report on Turkey has been approved. This is a bold and politically significant act, as it firmly and transparently denounces the ongoing violations of human rights, fundamental freedoms, and the rule of law in the country by those in power.

Labor has a long and dark history of putting the wishes of criminals ahead of the rights of victims. Labor will NEVER put the rights of Australians ahead of incompatible immigrants. Their ‘needs’ exceed our ‘rights’ to a safe and cohesive society.

Senator Sean Bell tells it straight. The laws rushed through by the Labor–Liberal coalition are a complete mess. They’re riddled with unintended consequences, stitched together in a secret backroom deal by a desperate Opposition Leader more focused on saving her own skin than holding Labor to account. These laws won’t stop a terrorist attack. What they will do is put innocent Australians at risk of jail. This is some of the worst legislation ever dumped on the floor of the Australian Parliament. A knee-jerk fix that creates bigger problems than it pretends to solve.
