LibDem Al Pinkerton points out that if the UK joined a Customs Union with the EU, we would ditch dud Brexit deals and take better EU trade deals E.g. the UK-Australia deal is a dud, but the EU-Australia deal is better, so in effect, we would gain by ditching the one the Conservatives negotiated which even Conservative George Eustice said it was "not actually a very good deal for the UK" The GB News presenter then says that joining the EU will cost us a lot citing a high figure, but doesn't mention the 6-8% gain on GDP which makes the membership fee relatively insignificant Al Pinkerton then says LibDems aren't advocating for a full rejoin right now and are focused on a customs union GB News presenter says he doesn't think the EU would allow a Customs Union, even though Turkey has a customs union with the EU Al Pinkerton concludes saying that based on his conversations in recent weeks, the EU absolutely would be open to a Customs Union with the EU Solid commentary Al Pinkerton MP 👏 - even though I much prefer a full on rejoin EU position
