🥀 Keir Starmer is in office, but he's not in power. It's just chaos. Squabble after squabble. U-turn after u-turn. Only the Conservatives have the plan and team to deliver, and fix the damage Labour has done to our country.

Barry Gardiner, "Yes it does, absolutely" "Keir Starmer and Steve Reed said they would allow the elections to proceed because they followed the legal advice" "This is a Labour government making the wrong call consistently" "It's showing poor judgment" "This worst thing is for it to look like a politician scared of the electorate, and that's what it looks like" Krishnan Guru-Murthy, "And for the Prime Minister whose man distinction is to be a lawyer, to be given a legal lesson by Nigel Farage" "It's humiliating" Barry Gardiner sighs, "I can't disagree with you"

They even find a constituent who said, "I don't think Sir Keir Starmer did much for people who live around here" My view: Channel 4 News explores whether Zack Polanski could threaten Labour in the Holborn & St Pancras by-election. One local resident says Keir Starmer “never did much around here”, while Polanski argues Labour is worried about the Greens—pointing to a series of Labour U-turns after Green pressure exposed weak policy decisions.

Many Labour MPs believe Keir Starmer will not survive as Labour leader for long enough to fight the next election, but what they cannot agree on, however, even after a disastrous set of results in last week’s elections, is how his departure might come about. Labour makes it difficult to unseat a leader: none has been formally ejected in the postwar period, though some have resigned under pressure from their own MPs. Sky's Lucy McDaid explains. 🔗

In mandatory digital ID, Liz Kendall has been handed another of Keir Starmer's steaming messes to clear up. To get through her Statement in parliament today, she simply talked about something else. A digital 'key' (not ID). Better online services. A world in which nobody loses a library card again. She could hardly bring herself to mention the PM's dodgy argument about stopping illegal migration. She couldn't own up to the reality that Labour will be excluding British people from the workplace if they don't sign up to a mandatory ID. (Don't worry, everyone, they're spending £9m on an 'inclusion' plan) Labour is choosing to cover up its mistake by suggesting their mandatory ID plan is the only way to deliver better online government services - which it's not. MP after MP - including even the stoogier Labour ones - stood up to pick holes in the government's plan. Answers from Liz there came none. Perhaps this can be one of those cack-handed government announcements that goes quietly into the night.
