LACSON QUESTIONS SOME EX-MILITARY CLAIMS, TIMING WATCH: Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson raises doubts over the affidavit of 18 former military personnel claiming they delivered suitcases of cash to several government officials, including President Marcos — an allegation Malacañang has denied. Senator Imee Marcos has filed a resolution seeking a probe into the issue, which has been referred to the blue ribbon committee. Lacson stresses the need to first verify the identities of the sources of information and assess the credibility of their claims. He also questions the timing of the press conference, noting it coincided with the International Criminal Court hearings on former President Duterte and the anniversary of the People Power Revolution. ”Mukhang may political color, not just political color, mukhang merong destabilization aspect,” Lacson says. | Eimor Santos

DRAFT BLUE RIBBON REPORT ON FLOOD CONTROL SCANDAL TO RECOMMEND INVESTIGATION, NOT CHARGES, VS. SENATORS JUST IN: Senate blue ribbon committee chairperson Ping Lacson says majority senators have agreed to revise the draft committee report on the flood control scandal, recommending investigation instead of the filing of charges against colleagues implicated in the issue. Lacson says the new draft states that Chiz Escudero, Jinggoy Estrada, and Joel Villanueva are recommended for investigation over possible plunder, bribery, and graft, among other offenses. “Pag sinabing charge, ito yung tumama sa sensitivity ng ibang mga kasama namin baka isipin ng mga tao china-charge sa korte,” Lacson says. “My own colleagues in the majority nag-suggest sila, baka naman pwedeng i-soften… nang hindi ma-sacrifice yung intent. Hindi mababago yung substance,” he adds. Lacson says this will not weaken the report as the changes are corrective, noting that the Senate does not have the authority to recommend the filing of court charges. He adds he is confident the report will secure at least 11 signatures for it to be tackled in plenary. The revision is ongoing and may be routed for signing tomorrow. | Eimor Santos
