In the following year (2025), Australian exports of crude oil to Singapore were valued at around US$1.79 billion. Australia imported US$6.44 billion worth of refined petroleum products from Singapore in 2024, most of this was from crude oil exported to Singapore from Australia. Effectively, Australia paid Singapore $5billion to refine our oil and sell it back to us. Australia also exported US$1.36 billion of LNG and mineral oils to Malaysia in 2025. Albanese has done a deal to buy Australia's own refined oil back. Does it get any stupider?
