Ka'Nijah Bean left her daughter, Key'Monnie Bean, in the care of her boyfriend, where police say the child was later killed. Every action has a reaction. Till yesterday, those who were openly abusing and using bad language did not think that they were students, that they had a career, or that their actions could have consequences. But now, as action has started being taken against them, they are trying to present themselves as victims, saying that they are students and are facing so many problems because of all this. These things should have been thought about earlier. When they were using such language, they didn't think about their future or career. Now that action is being taken, everything suddenly comes to mind. How will this work? If you take responsibility for your actions, you should also be ready to face the consequences.

You shared highly sensitive attack plans over signal, and apparently with people in your own personal circles. And you've not taken responsibility for those mistakes. All the while, the security challenges we face have grown larger, not smaller. And in the face of these challenges, you have taken a series of actions that weaken our posture… You are deploying the American military to police the American people. You're sending the National Guard in to California without the governor's request. Sending the Marines not after foreign threats but after American protesters. And now President Trump is promising heavy force against peaceful protesters at his D.C. Military parade. The Toronto police corruption scandal just keeps getting worse They must be joking! The Project South police corruption scandal investigation is being headed up by a cop immersed in scandal! You are NOT going to believe who is heading up the Project South police corruption investigation. Namely, a corrupt cop! By way of background, Project South was jointly announced in February by the Toronto Police Service and York Regional Police. The word “shocking” doesn’t even begin to convey the significance of the scandal. As we reported back in the wintertime, several police officers and civilian staffers, mostly employed by the Toronto Police Service but also with Peel Regional Police, were put under investigation for guns and drug trafficking, bribery, breach of trust, and even conspiracy to commit murder! Let us reiterate: these are police officers and civilian staffers of police forces facing numerous criminal charges. In other words, the “good guys”. Allegedly. Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw said at the time that corruption has no place in policing and that the force is committed to leaving no stone unturned and assorted other pronouncements of Grade-A bull-shite. But in the aftermath of all the hot air, how exactly is this initiative playing out? Especially given that Chief Demkiw promised the public a two-year anti-corruption initiative. Project South would get to the bottom of this scandal. It would re-establish trust in policing. Moving forward, the Toronto Police Service would be all about restoring accountability and transparency. And if you believe those whoppers, we have some oceanfront property for sale in Saskatoon… That’s because our ex-cop friend Jay Bannister, who now runs the superb MadLab Press website, found out who Chief Demkiw has appointed to run this anti-corruption unit. Namely, Superintendent Riyaz Hussein. Who’s that, you ask? Well for starters, Hussein is a police officer who is no stranger himself when it comes to being arrested and convicted of a crime! Here’s the skinny: Hussein used to serve as a quasi-judge at the Toronto Police Tribunal where he was in charge of judging bad cops and even handing down sentences to those cops found guilty. All of which is quite rich because Hussein is far from squeaky clean himself. Back in 2022, according to Oshawa court staff, Hussein pleaded guilty to driving with a blood alcohol level over .80 in connection with a crash that occurred in Pickering, Ont. Hussein, who was apparently as drunk as a skunk at the time of the accident, slammed his unmarked police cruiser into the back of a delivery truck on Highway 401. There was even an open bottle of liquor in his car – Appleton’s Rum to be precise. When Hussein was arrested by police at the scene of the accident, one officer noted that this reprobate was so inebriated that he could barely stand up. Hussien was later suspended with pay and, if you can believe it, was back on the job just a month later! He was also found guilty and sentenced to a one-year driving prohibition and fined $1,560. He was also demoted to inspector for a year. But get this: he would later be cranked up to superintendent again. Why? Nobody knows. And the irony could not be more perverse nor profound: the police officer in charge of Project South – the investigation into police corruption – is corrupt himself! The question arises: what the hell is Chief Demkiw thinking? Why is a convicted drunk driver investigating corrupt cops? Hussein shouldn’t even be employed as a meter maid. And so much for accountability and disclosure! It’s a joke, albeit one without a punchline. And this latest sordid chapter in Toronto Police history reminds us of one of our favourite Latin quotes: “Quis custodiet ipsos custodes.” Translation: “Who guards the guardians?”

When and how does a baby’s love begin? The truth is that your baby begins falling in love with you even before you meet, becoming aware of (and learning to prefer) your voice during the final months in utero. (It may feel strange, but seriously, talk to your bump.) After birth, the attachment process begins in earnest. Your engaged and responsive caretaking, your tenderness, your smiles, your kisses, and even your smell draw your newborn closer and closer. And there is NOTHING your baby loves to look at more than YOUR face. Their adoring gaze is a sign of your secure attachment. But make no mistake, your face is also your baby’s most important teacher. Your baby studies you carefully - looking for clues about your emotional state (which informs what theirs should be), how you form language, and so much more. I’ve rarely seen a video that capture’s an infant’s love/attachment as beautifully as this one from TheRiceFam4Life on TT. Those eyes tell you all you need to know about the special bond this one has with her father. Just beautiful.

Last night, the Canton Police Department Select Board voted to appoint the Oxford Police Chief as Canton’s next Chief of Police. Lieutenant Rae of Canton PD was the runner-up. During the interviews, roughly a dozen Canton officers were in attendance showing visible support for Lt. Rae which is understandable and human. They also stayed for Chief Daniels’ interview and the final vote. After the vote, most of those officers departed. Only 3 remained when Chief Daniels was invited back into the room to formally accept the position and meet members of the public who had stayed to congratulate him. He could be seen introducing himself to citizens and beginning what is clearly an important transition moment As the town continues the long process of rebuilding trust and healing, it’s worth noting that small gestures matter. Remaining in the room even briefly to acknowledge and welcome the new Chief would have sent a powerful message of unity, professionalism, and shared commitment to the community. No one is questioning loyalty or disappointment. Those emotions are real. But leadership cultures are built in moments exactly like this. Canton deserves a police department that moves forward together visibly, publicly, and with grace.

EVERY RUPEE MATTERS! Every rupee spent by our department belongs to the public, and it must be accounted for with complete transparency and responsibility. Today I addressed a training programme for accountants officers of our Telangana Special Police Battalions and I want to reiterate what I told them financial accountability is not a formality, it is a core responsibility. During my recent district visits and review meetings with Superintendents of Police, several gaps in budget management came to my notice. In some units, even the district police chiefs were not fully aware of their own budgetary position. I personally intervened in one case where delayed release of funds was causing hardship to our personnel this should never happen. EVERY RUPEE MATTERS! Every rupee spent by our department belongs to the public, and it must be accounted for with complete transparency and responsibility. Today I addressed a training programme for accountants officers of our Telangana Special Police Battalions and I want to reiterate what I told them financial accountability is not a formality, it is a core responsibility. During my recent district visits and review meetings with Superintendents of Police, several gaps in budget management came to my notice. In some units, even the district police chiefs were not fully aware of their own budgetary position. I personally intervened in one case where delayed release of funds was causing hardship to our personnel this should never happen.
