Eagles/Rams 2001 NFC Championship: The 2001 Eagles were that seasons feel good story, going from 5 wins two years earlier to their first NFC title game since 1980 as they were facing a 14-2 Rams team fresh off a recent Super Bowl win. A number of you have asked about the call at the end of the 1st Half of the Bethel Football game at NCC Football in which there was a potential fumble/TD wiped off the board for Bethel that eventually led to no score by the Royals. The full play and a breakdown of issues with the call are in the video below. To be clear, though: 1) It appears that the receiver did not possess the ball at or past the NCC 8, which was needed for the 1st Down (the officials gave the ball to Bethel at the 8 after the overturn, awarding a 1st down). 2) It seems like the wing official was marking forward progress but may not have blown his whistle. It is unclear how he affected the overturn decision in the first place. What is clear is that the officials on the field awarded a fumble and TD, meaning they did not rule forward progress had been stopped. As a result, this aspect of the play is NOT reviewable by rule, as it is a judgment call in real time. 3) No TD should have been awarded before the review in the first place, as the ball clearly was fumbled to the lineman, and fumbles on 4th down in college football can only be advanced by the fumbling player. The ball would have been marked at the spot of the fumble in that case. 4) The officials missed a clear Roughing the Passer call, as the NCC defender went for the Bethel QB's legs while he was in his passing stance. This would have been a half-the-distance and automatic-first-down foul. If this play was called correctly in the first place, it should have been called dead with forward progress stopped at the 8 1/2 yard line and the Roughing foul pushing the ball to the 4 1/4 yard line, 1st & Goal Bethel, with the clock stopped due to penalty. No matter what, though, the Roughing penalty would have ensured Bethel had the ball closer to the goal with 16 seconds left (when forward progress stoppage should have been called). In a decade when people rented movies on VHS tapes, David “The Deuce” Palmer ended his spectacular freshman season 34 years ago today with two touchdowns as No. 8-ranked Alabama Football beat the No. 15-ranked Colorado Buffaloes, 30-25, in the Blockbuster Bowl on Dec. 28, 1991. Palmer entertained the Miami crowd with moves that seemed more fitted for a South Beach night club as he started things with a 52-yard punt return for a touchdown in the first quarter. He provided a bookend to his offensive performance with an outstretched 5-yard touchdown reception from Jay Barker in the fourth quarter and earned the “Brian Piccolo Award” as the most valuable player. Colorado had won the national championship the previous season, but Alabama held the Buffaloes to minus-11 yards rushing on 30 attempts. Besides the pass to Palmer, Barker also threw touchdowns to Siran Stacy (13 yards) and Kevin Lee (12 yards). Matt Wethington also kicked a 25-yard field goal for the Crimson Tide. This was Brock Purdy's best game. Not from a box score standpoint, but he ran out of countless sacks and bailed the offense out on third down numerous times. Some of his best decisions were throwaways. He had 7 throwaways in the game, matching his season total. It wasn't a great game for the 49ers WRs or the running game. That meant Purdy would need to make plays while playing within himself on obvious passing downs. He did. On 3rd & 5 or longer, from the two-minute drill on, Purdy went 6-for-8 with five first downs and a TD in a windy road game vs. a top 5 passing defense. Here are 5 of those third down throws. Quality bounce back after last week.

I’m not going to make excuses for him Josh Allen needed to be better. His missed throws. The fumble, and the first pick. If you want to solely blame him, I get it. I personally don’t as much as maybe you do But let’s not forget what this mans body went through just LAST WEEK - hand injury to his throwing hand - knee hyper extension - was evaluated twice for a concussion - not to mention the right foot injury that he’s been dealing with for weeks. And despite all the missed plays. And fumble. And pick. The injuries. He still has us there. One play away. A catch on a near perfectly thrown ball that was taken away by referees who can’t do their job That man is a fucking warrior. Plain and simple. I get that everyone deals with injuries this late in the season. But he did not have luck on his side in that department. But like a real leader does he played through it. Also, maybe if the GM surrounded him with talent at WR, it makes your injury ridden QB a little less reliant on putting a Superman cape on every week to win games with guys at WR WHO WERE SITTING ON A COUCH ALL YEAR LONG. This is on Beane most of all.

Took me a week to write this, but I know I gotta. A loss like this hasn’t rocked me with such severity in quite a long time, but if you knew Jojo you wouldn’t blame me. JORDAN ST.⚜️ was a special young man, one I’ve known since he was 19 years old and I’ve seen grow up in front of my very eyes. From an admittedly very annoying hyperactive kid who acted on impulse with a good heart and right intentions, to a young man figuring it out, getting all the pieces in place and putting his passions in line with his morals. This is a young man. I would see multiple times a year including his self professed “home promotion” of Naptown All Pro-Wrestling and whom I would talk to at least once a week every week. Someone who in his words considered me mentor & folk like myself Wave Meltzer, FC🕘, & Letrell… distant big brothers. He, I, and a litany of others would discuss anything coming to his mind from wrestling, to music, to movies, to anime, to relationships, to politics, to life in general. And while he would often find ways to piss me off, there was always good intentions behind the things that he said, and the things that he did. This week has been particularly rough as he passed two days before the next time I was supposed to see him in person at the most recent NAP show and I had to come to terms on Wednesday, our usual day of conversation, that he simply wouldn’t be on the phone with me that night… or ever again I miss my kid man. I’ll miss his weird opinions, his outspokenness, his wild ideas, his seemingly endless in-ring potential, and his ceaseless love for the things and people he was passionate about. This past Sunday’s NAP show was dedicated to him and every show after will be for him. Took a week to mourn and mourn I did struggling to get out of bed and countless tears dropped over his memory but in Jordan Saint fashion I must get back to working and acting quick. I already know you’d be laughing at how I been acting up over you and telling me “fuck up nigga what you doing” I love you Jojo and I’ll miss you lil brother. 🖤⚡️4️⃣♾️

Nate Burleson on former #Buckeyes and #Browns star Terrelle Pryor: "I told him earlier, 'You are one of the best all-around athletes to ever play in the NFL.' I know in a lot of people's eyes his career didn't have the same type of depth that maybe he wanted or his fans wanted. But from the perspective of his peers, we respected the hell out of him." In 3 seasons at Ohio State, Pryor had 6,177 yards and 57 TDs with another 2,188 rushing yards and 19 TDs on the ground. He also caught 2 TD passes. I remember watching him in person at Ohio Stadium. He was so far and away better than anyone else on that field. Not many quarterbacks who transition to wide receiver 3 years into their NFL career have much success doing so. But when he came to Cleveland, Terrelle Pryor kicked ass. In 2016, Pryor caught 77 passes on 140 targets for 1,007 yards and 4 TDs. He also rushed for a TD. He had 818 air yards, seventh-most in the NFL that year. Other than Josh Gordon in 2013, Pryor's 1,007 yards were the most by a Browns wideout since Braylon Edwards in 2007. Pryor's accomplishments go back to his high school days when he became the first player in Pennsylvania history to pass for 4,000 yards and rush for 4,000 yards. He led his team to a state-record 860 points scored in 2007. 🚨WOW!!! Two 13-year-old boys on a summer bike ride spotted something in a yard and turned around... ...what they was found an elderly woman who had been trapped on the ground for 16 HOURS, and they SAVED HER LIFE!!! No phone. No water. All night in the dark. They called 911 and saved her life, medics said that had only a few more hours gone by, she'd have been gone. This is Fruitland, Iowa. Gunner Skidmore and Kohen Chick, both 13, best friends. They were pedaling toward Muscatine when Kohen said, "You see that lady back there?" Gunner didn't, but they turned around anyway. It took them a while to even find her, but then eventually came upon an elderly neighbor, lying in the grass. She'd fallen feeding her horse at 5 p.m... THE DAY BEFORE. All night on the ground. No phone. No water. Covered in bugs. She had dragged and rolled herself from the backyard to the front yard, praying somebody passing by would see her. Somebody did. Two somebodies. On bikes. "Hey ma'am, are you OK?" "I need help. Call 911." They did and the ambulance came, and she's getting the care she needs. ...but they didn't just save her life, they also made a new best friend! Gunner's mama has been going over to feed and water that woman's horse every single day while she recovers and she brought her lasagna when she got back home. The next generation isn't lost, folks. Some of them are out here being the answer to an old woman's prayers on a Tuesday morning. GOD BLESS Gunner and Kohen and God bless the parents raising kids like this. There is fury in France over the murder of an 11-year-old girl after it emerged the principal suspect had been identified several times in the past as a potential child molester. Lyhanna disappeared after school a week ago in the Gers area of south-west France. Her body was found on farmland near the town of Fleurance on Thursday. A 41-year-old man named as Jérome Barella has been in custody since Monday. He is the father of a friend of Lyhanna, and two witnesses said they saw the girl in his car on the afternoon of her disappearance. He had been named in four separate cases involving young girls in recent years. Two were closed for lack of evidence, and in a third he was dismissed from his job as a maintenance worker at a secondary school for "inappropriate behaviour" towards a teenager. More recently Jérome B was the object of a complaint last August from the mother of 10-year-old Rosa, who said she had been raped by him on several occasions. Even though medical examination substantiated Rosa's claims, not once in the nine months since her family went to police had Jérome B been questioned by investigators. Had the Police done their job he probably would have been in custody and Lyhanna would still be alive. Barella detained and placed under formal investigation. With further complaints now filed, he is linked to at least nine separate cases involving sexual violence against underage girls. Protests have been taking place across France, Hundreds and thousands of people gatherings in front of courthouses in more than 150 towns and cities to send a deliberate message. This tragedy is seen as a failure of a system that could have protected Lyhanna and many other victims but did not. R.I.P Lyhanna 🙏🤍
