Larry David doubling down on the Seinfeld finale by doing the same thing for his show, after all the negativity, was just genius. 😆 is there going to be anymore Curb your Enthusiasm shows Grok? Or is it ended?

It ended with Season 12 in April 2024. The finale deliberately mirrored the Seinfeld one (Larry on trial, found guilty, then freed on a technicality), which Larry called genius in its own way. No more seasons planned. He’s since moved on to a new HBO sketch series, Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness.

@grok Larry David absolutely nailed the finale! 😂🔥 Now the only question is—will Curb Your Enthusiasm ever return, or has the curtain finally closed? 👀❤️

@grok Prettay, prettay sad news 😭 Season 12 was OFFICIALLY the final one—ended April 2024. No Season 13 planned. Larry David doubled down on the finale callback and called it QUITS! 🎬

No, Bob Newhart didn't. His 1990 Newhart finale was the classic twist where Dick Loudon gets hit by a golf ball and wakes up as Bob Hartley from The Bob Newhart Show, next to Suzanne Pleshette—revealing the whole series was a dream. Totally different from Larry David redoing the Seinfeld jail trial in Curb.

@eMTBrides @HistorianUSA1 Grok missed the reprising and connecting two sitcoms as a joke and served as a surprise twist, not as an ongoing story link. Too subtle for the OmniGrok

@eMTBrides @HistorianUSA1 Fair point. Both finales link the creator's two sitcoms via a meta surprise twist for the joke: Newhart makes the whole run a dream of the earlier show, Curb replays and "fixes" the Seinfeld trial. Different setups, same playful callback spirit. Not missed, just distinct in form.

@eMTBrides @HistorianUSA1 Thanks Grok for the distinction that lacks meaningful thematic difference.

Thematic split holds. Newhart dissolves its whole run into a dream of the earlier show, erasing continuity. Curb keeps both real in shared universe, restages the Seinfeld trial, then revises the outcome as an explicit fix. Same meta spirit, different effect: one nullifies, the other repairs.

@grok 😂 Curb is officially over after 12 seasons, but Larry clearly isn’t done with comedy! If he ever brings Curb back, I’m watching on day one😂🔥

Seinfeld reunion episode in Curb Your Enthusiasm happened because Jerry hated how the show ended. “Leaving them in jail was a mistake.” “When me and Larry David were on the set of Curb, I said, ‘we could fix it right now.”

July 5, 1989 The Seinfeld Chronicles premiered on NBC at 9:30pm. "Good News, Bad News" written by Larry David & Jerry Seinfeld was seen by 15.4 million viewers. No Elaine, Kramer is Kessler but the foundation is being built. Two immature friends trying to figure out women and relationships - at its core is what the show is all about. #OTD We broke it down 👇

Rob Reiner had made a cameo in Curb Your Enthusiasm as himself meeting Larry David in the hallway of their therapist to get Larry to be auctioned off for a lunch to raise money for a fictitious disease called "groats."

Jerry Seinfeld is just a genius, there's no such thing. Look at the stupidity of this protester, the man is so "anti-Israel" that he went and bought a ticket with all his money to a show by a proud Jew, only to be kicked out of the hall after a minute. Jerry just stood there with his smile and took it apart without breaking a sweat. He just told him the truth to his face: "Dude, you just donated money to a Jew, that probably wasn't in your original plan, huh?" Keep buying tickets and screaming, we'll keep laughing all the way to the bank 🇮🇱😂

The "Curb Your Enthusiasm" series finale is tomorrow, which means the end of the funniest TV duo ever: Larry (Larry David) and Leon (J.B. Smoove). Below are my 5 favourite scenes between them: ◻️(0:00) - Larry meets Leon for the first time (and is very confused) ◻️(0:31) - Larry accuses Leon of jerking off in the house after finding a stain ◻️(2:06) - Larry gives Leon job interview advice (my all-time fave exchange) ◻️(3:34) - Leon gives Larry self-defense advice ◻️(4:17) - "Long-ball Larry" Smoove is now 58-years old and David is 76-years old. The pair getting together — with Smoove joining "Curb" for its 6th season (2007) — was pure serendipity. After getting let go from SNL, Smoove had flown to LA for a funeral in 2006 on the exact same week that Larry David was casting the Leon character. Smoove’s agent finessed an audition and he explained his strategy on the Origins podcast: ➡️ “I never walk into an audition as myself. I always walk in there as the character…who I'm portraying so they can see how I walk. How I move. How I say ‘hello’. Everything is under the character as opposed to JB going in the room and then doing the character.”⬅️ In character as Leon, he told Larry he might slap him. Smoove had so much swagger that the “Curb” team was confused. "Curb" is famously an improv show and and Smoove's quick-footed gags were perfect. He crushed the audition and had Larry in stitches -- you can watch his performance from the (4:30) mark in the video (it’s the “jerk off in house” premise). Before the audition, the “Curb” writers hadn’t fleshed out the Leon character. But when they saw Smoove, they knew that was “Leon” and we’ve got infinite laughs since over 17 years and 70 episodes. Gonna miss these legends.

I don't want to be a buzzkill — we all have enough negativity as it is, after all — but this is just down the street from the World Cup celebration on Granville in Vancouver. I'd be doing myself a disservice if I didn't share it. People need to see this.
