Today: Sands wrecked, became Venetian Holiday Inn = Harrah’s Imperial Palace = Linq Flamingo Hilton = Flamingo Barbary Coast = Vanderpump MGM = Horseshoe

You could walk around and breathe then. Strip looks junky now.

The ole Sands… used to be able to park right in front and enjoy the Copa Room. Good times.

You could just cross the street and see the sky driving it. No bridges and all that weird urban cacaphony. Just casinos, neon, against desert sunset backdrop. And the Flamingo checkin enterance was awesome. There was a two story building facing the pool with suites that was super handy there.

I was 12 ,sure miss my old Las Vegas 😔

@JacobsVegasLife The lack of rolling billboards is nice to see again.

Good times, my first year in Las Vegas ! Lake Mead is full, welcome days, great tips, happy visitors !

Yeah, I wish I could go back to that ,free drinks $2 breakfast $7 buffet 1 pound $1 hotdogs

They should build another hotel like the Sands....

#GloryDays of Las Vegas

I worked on the strip 1976-78.

More fun back then

Wow seems so empty compared to now.

Accurate. I was there a few times in the early 80s.

I am walking straight to I.P. then stumble to The Sands! 🙌🏻

& yes it was way better back then!

It all looks different except the mountains.

Dixieland Jazz band every afternoon at Barbary Coast. Great atmosphere and vibe for the era. 💯🎶😎👍

It was so beautiful, so clean, and just a wonderful place to live in those days. I still live here but I feel differently. It’s changed too much. It’s too busy, too many people, and everyone’s ticked off.

I was there

Beauty

@JacobsVegasLife i'm standing out front of dennys waving

Only the mountains haven’t changed

Still here. Simply one of the most bizarre and absolutely fabulous places anywhere.

I loved it back then. $99 round trip from Phoenix. $80 a night at a nice hotel. Comps and partying. We’d play slots for an hour, win $300 and pay for the entire weekend for both of us. Now I have the money to go and spend $5k on a weekend but I can’t find the value. No value

I remember that Holiday Inn! I had actually stayed at the Aladdin in 1983

@JacobsVegasLife Wish they never made that rooftop addition to Barbary Coast.

Much nicer time. Wish I could have seen it then.

Hated them at the time (we want to stay in the new tower!), but I now wish the Flamingo (Hilton) garden rooms were still there…

Imperial palace looks incredible

It was fun while it lasted...

Looks like shit

What a trip down memory lane...
