Last month, Twitch announced that monetization (Subs/Bits) would soon be open to all creators from Day 1. They've now clarified that you won't be able to withdraw that money unless you unlock Affiliate. However, you will be able to spend it on-site.

being able to spend it on the site is actually kinda huge, surprised they dont have that for all creators. keeps money in house and probably makes them money since they get their cut regardless. Also if you do that creators who do it keep the eco system afloat. also no taxes haha

So it was just Twitch being Twitch. Make some headline and walk it back slowly with some fine print.

We have a saying in Dutch, literally translated: Making someone happy with a dead sparrow. It means making someone happy with an announcement which turns out to be worthless.

So twitch will still take half then take half again when you have to use it on site?

This is predatory and vile to call it monetization.

Lmao so they keep your money in-house in hope you either start making them money by reaching affiliate or hope you spend it back out on others to still make them money

Ah. on-site spending. Question will be.. If you spend on-site money to sub to a streamer; Will that streamer get more $, since Twitch won't be charged processing fees to subtract from the revenue to be shared Or does the buyer get a discount for the eliminated processing fees?
