Last week, CATA released two explosive reports which revealed a scandal of monumental proportions. Flawed decisions were made at the start of the Covid pandemic - and then covered up for years to come. In this series of videos, David Osborn talks us through the key findings…

The CATA Executive team have worked tirelessly in their pursuit of the truth, forensically analysing over 17,000 Covid Inquiry documents & submitting countless FOI requests. Concerningly, they discovered around 100 key emails which have not been disclosed to the Covid Inquiry…

Their report explores 7 separate occasions when the IPC Cell was challenged re: the adequacy of its guidance on respiratory protection for healthcare workers. This included challenges from PHE/UKHSA, Chief Nursing Officers & even the CMO. Each time, concerns were brushed aside.

Throughout 2021 & into 2022, officials continued to challenge the IPC Cell’s recommendations… …but to no avail. Europe had moved to recommending FFP masks for healthcare workers looking after Covid patients in June 2020 - but in the UK, HCWs were stuck with surgical masks.

One of CATA’s most important findings relates to a meeting held on 22 Dec 2020, just as the highly transmissible first Omicron wave was surging. By the end of that meeting, a consensus view had been agreed that “a more precautionary approach” should be adopted…

This meeting on 22 Dec 2020 was raised during the Covid Inquiry. Prof Hopkins was asked for clarity about the recommendation given by a PHE representative: “Our understanding of aerosol transmission has changed. A precautionary approach to move to FFP3 masks should be advised.”

During the Inquiry, the Chair of the IPC Cell, Lisa Ritchie, was also asked to elaborate on the process by which the IPC Cell reached a consensus view. It was revealed that no formal votes were taken & it was ultimately up to the Chair (Ritchie) to decide the consensus position.

However… and here’s the really scandalous part… What the Inquiry never knew was that the meeting minutes had been EDITED to remove mention of: 1. the consensus agreement for a more precautionary approach 2. references to FFP3 masks. The DRAFT minutes were never disclosed.

Various other issues are raised in CATA’s report, as summarised in this clip ⬇️ One key concern is a document produced by ARHAI which deliberately misrepresented written recommendations from HSE in order to portray a completely different meaning to that which had been intended.

In this final video, David explains how CATA presented the report to the Covid Inquiry Chair, Baroness Hallett, but received a report back from an Inquiry official saying: “Given that investigation is complete, we do not seek any further information from CATA at this stage.”

CATA also released a press release last week to accompany the publication of their two damning reports. They were, of course, hoping these explosive revelations would be picked up by the press, but curiously there has been zero media coverage so far…

However, with the Covid Inquiry due to release its Module 3 report (Impact on Healthcare Systems) TOMORROW, it’s hoped that some of the issues raised in CATA’s report (particularly re: key documents being withheld from the Inquiry) will make it into the media.

Finally, I’d just like to extend a HUGE thank you to CATA’s Exec team. Barry. David. Kamini. Kevin. They have devoted years of their lives to holding the govt & other agencies to account for the flawed Covid IPC guidance drawn up in 2020 - and still not corrected to this day.
