Pramila Jayapal warning of a “backlash” for Senate Dems who vote for it. “They should refuse to allow this bill to pass in the Senate,” she told me. If they don’t? “I think there's going to be huge backlash from across the country, and I think all of them will have to deal with the consequences of that,” Jayapal said. I'm sickened by the 16 Michigan House Republicans who voted last week to take back funding from organizations like Wigs4Kids with cancer; Kids-TALK, for kids who have been sexually abused; Rx Kids, for mothers and infants in low-income communities, and dozens of other worthy projects. Mr. President, my Republican colleagues never seem to miss an opportunity to lecture women on how they should handle their pregnancies, but when the opportunity arises to HELP KIDS and their parents, they rip the help away. Every Republican who voted for this and every Republican who supports this questionably legal political tactic should hang their head in shame. Thankfully, yesterday, five Senate Republicans joined all Senate Democrats in passing a bill that reinstates this funding.
