Chainlink staking puts node operators on the hook, not community stakers Chainlink staking lets holders lock $LINK to back the network's oracles, which feed outside data such as prices to blockchains. Version v0.2 caps the pool at 45M LINK: 40.875M for community stakers, up to 15,000 each, and the rest for node operators, the firms running the oracles, up to 75,000 each. Community stake is automatically delegated to node operators, who never get control of it. Community stakers earn a base rate of 4.5% a year and pass 4% of those rewards to the operators backing them, leaving 4.32%. The community pool is full, so newcomers can only join when others leave. Leaving means a 28-day cooldown, then a 7-day window to withdraw. Only node operators can be slashed, losing part of their stake if a service they secure fails.
