When it comes to Pig production in Africa, Nigeria stands tall like no other! Nigeria has the highest population of pigs in Africa and has been leading in pig production for over 3 decades. Even with the religious restrictions on the consumption of pigs by a key religious group in Nigeria. Pig production is still a million dollar sector in the Nigerian economy. This is a testament to the biggest pig farm in West Africa located in Ogun state covering over 30 hectares of land & has its own processing facility. The estate was originally established by the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture but is physically situated in the Giwa/Oke-Aro area, which falls within Ogun State territory. This farm has hundreds of thousands of pigs with thousands of farmers making their livelihood & creating employment while generating revenue to the govt of Nigeria. Reminds me a little bit of a story of a farmer who brought his family into town. They were walking down the street, farmer, wife, two little kids, and a three-legged pig walking right next to him. Apparently, a friend looked out from his shop and saw him walking down the street, and he walked up to the farmer, and he said, you know, “So what's with the pig?” And the farmer said, “Hey, that's no ordinary pig.” He said, “When my daughter was little, she fell into the pond. That pig jumped in, grabbed a hold of her, saved her life.” And he said, “Oh,” and he said, “One night when we smelt smoke in our house, that pig came running into the house, got everybody out of bed, saved our whole family.” And so, his friend said to him, “That's really remarkable.” And he said, “What's with the three legs?” And the farmer said, “Well, you don't eat a pig like that all at once.” I mean, the truth is, from the outside in our movement, there are people that have been nibbling away at the very principles that have made America strong and prosperous and free and have defined the conservative agenda. In fact, in many respects, in recent years, we've seen our movement tossed about in a tempest of populism, protectionism, and on occasion even isolationism.

Unfortunately, the beginning of the keynote is a little messed up. My slides weren't formatted correctly and there are tons of shots of the faces of the crowd which I do not support. I've done my best to blur the crowd in these edited clips. I believe the conference is working on a version of its own that addresses these issues. The most important piece that got cut from the intro of my keynote was my tribute to We are all Gigi. I consider Gigi a genius. This presentation is an extension of his work.
