🚨WATCH: A transgender lawmaker in New Hampshire compares the trans rights movement to black Americans who fought to end segregation. New Hampshire state Rep. Alice Wade (D) made the comment while advocating against a bill that would limit the use of facilities on the basis of sex and redefine the term "gender identity" in state law. "Giving rights to trans people does not take them away from others, just as giving rights to black Americans did not take them away from white Americans," Wade said. The bill in question, HB 1442, would prevent members of the opposite sex from using "gender identity" as a reason to access any space or service designated specifically for females or males. "When you look me in the eye and you say with all due respect, we need to take away your rights because trans people are inherently a threat. That is not with all due respect," Wade said to House Republicans who support the bill.

SNYDER: When I was growing up in '70s and '80s, existence of Soviet Union was as certain as anything could be in politics. People who predicted the end of Soviet Union were outcasts and outliers. And up to December 1991, it was American policy to try to preserve Soviet Union. So it's really striking that all that's solid really can melt into air. Time goes faster there than in US.
