as a native floridian these are the storms from my childhood,, i grew up in the 80s and the thunderstorms were just like this year's storms, loud roaring thunderstorms that shake the house, rain, lots of rain and cracks of lightning

Thunder is a sonic boom. And sonic booms can cause a house to shake. The Blue Angels would break the sound barrier over the gulf and cause my house to shake.

The last couple weeks here in central Florida have had some hard intense lightning & thunder including last night (2 inches of rain in about 1 - 1 1/2 hrs) but we've only been here 4 years so can't say how unusual it is
