Chancellor Rachel Reeves says she's backing Andy Burnham as the next prime minister, saying he would continue "that tight grip on the public finances" by sticking to her fiscal rules. She brushed off reports that she might be moved to a more junior role, saying any cabinet decisions would be up to Mr Burnham should he become the next Labour leader.

Since Andy Burnham is apparently lining up to be the next Labour leader, here’s a reminder: Andy accused victims of Pakistani-Muslim grooming gangs of trying to “propagandise” the issue. He tried to block the grooming gangs inquiry in Manchester and nationally. He claimed that Pakistani-Muslims grooming gangs are a “thing of the past” despite clear evidence that little girls are still being victimised to this day, including in his local area. He tried to shift the blame onto victims by refusing to acknowledge them as children — Children who were raped, exploited and even murdered by Pakistani grooming gangs while powerful people like him turned a blind eye. Andy Burnham belongs in prison, not in Parliament. And certainly not in 10 Downing Street.

They could have funded it by reversing the tax cut to bankers bonuses, but they chose to keep children in poverty while already rich bankers got bigger bonuses The tough choice wasn't for bankers to be be less rich, it was for children to suffer for a year longer than was necessary

Not a great look when you’re standing in the Welsh Parliament elections. We have seen Labour pile on Reform over a joke impersonation of Basil Faulty yet they stay silent when it’s their own and in a worse case than the Reform Incident. This individual doesn’t deserve to represent any community in Swansea, vote this N@zi out in 2027.

Andy Burnham has just signalled a major push to make more welfare benefits conditional. In his interview with Laura Kuenssberg, the Prime Minister was asked directly: “Specifically, as your plans stand, do they include removing benefits from anyone or reducing benefits for anyone?” Burnham replied: “It’s about changing the nature of the support and making some of the support conditional upon people taking opportunities that are presented in front of them.” He’s talking about reforming the system so that support is tied to engaging with available jobs, training or other opportunities, not simply handed out with no strings attached. The welfare bill is costing an absolute fortune and is completely unsustainable. Starmer tried to reform it and it blew up in his face. Burnham is now having a go, let’s hope he actually delivers meaningful change this time. If they really want public support, they should start by stopping foreign nationals from receiving benefits altogether. That single move would have huge backing across the country because far too many people can see the system is being abused. Time for real reform.
