A missing detail: The DNS server is behind the VPN, otherwise the VPN would communicate with the regional server of the user instead of the server of the specified VPN location. +OP is indian.

That's not entirely accurate. VPN steps: You connect to a VPN server. Your data is encrypted on your device. The encrypted data travels through the internet The VPN server decrypts the data and sends it to the destination. The website sees the VPN server IP, not your real IP.
