very convenient that it looks smooth and identical to a lorenz attractor lol

The attractors aren't nearly this clean with real data. The embedding dimensions are also dynamic. When the market is a strange attractor - it becomes easier to gamble on.

No, if I learned anything from ML it’s that the solution is always to just add another dimension.

Is quant even worth looking into, I’ve seen their models can’t really predict stocks that strongly.

Not really. Trading is pretty much zero sum. If you win X$, then that means someone else has lost X$, or 10 ppl lost 1/10X$, you get the idea. The only way to win is to consistently beat other people. This changes when u are a multimillionaire, at least that's what they're telling me

@jacklif8 What ?? This is so stupid. Ever heard of companies there are this big things that sell other things and as they sell more things they earn more money and they are worth more.. god dam iq is low on x

@jacklif8 yeah that's called investing, not trading....

@ComicoBarrilete @jacklif8 so if someone sold an asset to me and made a profit then i sold it soon after and made a profit and the value kept going up someone lost?

Richárd's profile picture
Richárd9 months ago

Yes? The person you bought it from has lost what you gained. If you didn't buy it from him then he would've made even more profit by selling it later. But more generally, obviously I'm referring to winning/losing in relation to the market average. SP500 is a good proxy, and it's clear it's constantly increasing(naturaly, dips happen). If you underperform the market, then you lose. You would've made more just by following it.

I wrote this one evening the most dogwashed FDTD electromagnetism sim, I swear the start of this video looked just like the movement of the particles in my test run, right before everything went to infinity and they started teleporting everywhere at once

> This is how high-frequency quants gain an edge. You know it's BS just from this one line.

all this yet still cant predict the market. fuck off

The Lorenz attractor is a mathematical model from chaos theory, developed by Edward Lorenz in 1963 to simulate atmospheric convection. It's represented by a set of three nonlinear differential equations that produce a butterfly-shaped graph in phase space, illustrating how tiny changes in initial conditions can lead to vastly different outcomes—the famous "butterfly effect." However, it has nothing to do with quantitative math in finance or trading.

Crazy, stock market is way more complex than a Lorenz attractor.

This is just a strange attractor... It's not built or even approximated on real data.

My PhD is related to the strange attractors they show. It’s a differential equation that is highly susceptible to initial conditions. Although sometimes you end up with the same result, often it will be an unstable system (chaos) and I imagine that’s the case usually for markets.

Claude please produce a graphic of a cool spinning mathematical object, make the titles of the graph indicate it’s somehow related to bitcoin. It should be a mathematical object with lots of aura when I add a slowed and deepened brainslop edit audio to it
