We're back to being sent to the closet by our supposed "own kind" , sterilization of pride ,sex shaming, and the rejection of masculinity as it is deemed "toxic". This has been happening for a while . So we go back to private clubs and to "our own". Ok by me.

I have been searching for a home probably foothills of North Carolina that would be large enough to host things such as you speak of because being an older gentleman I do not like loud bars anymore that you can't speak to one another plus offering play space to those who don't

I hope you find it. Would be good way to cultivate community locally.

I’m seeing more activity, but I’m also just making a leap from being completely online only to particpating. It’s a small world especially within kink. The socials have a different vibe for sure, but the pearl clutchers are still scandalized.

Great point about the ongoing trends in the community. My hope if this continues is that areas that haven't seen a strong leather or kink organizational scene may start to build those core groups who can move onto larger meetups or events in the future.

Yes there can be. I have brought people to both the cocktail party and the dinner. So that helps too.

I agree that curated spaces are a great idea but I also see where they can be slightly problematic. Not only for people trying to enter the community but also for people that are already marginalized because they don’t fit the usual “standards“ of a typical leatherman.

Yes. And while you could then hang with other non “standard” leatherfolk that just Balkanizes things more. There has to be way to be not just connected to those like you but also interconnected to others kinda like you and not like you.
