Mostly said by people who don’t watch the NBA anymore. Just because hand checking isn’t allowed anymore doesn’t mean a 6’8” 260 lb Lebron James can’t take a hit. The main problem is most players aren’t strong enough to make a noticeable impact on him. That’s the only reason he started exaggerating fouls.
