Leclerc vs Hamilton -- speed delta trace from their best laps in FP2 at Madring.

Even after several races, Leclerc is still not 100% comfortable on the new brakes. That went from one of the strongest attributes of his driving, to a relative weakness compared to his former self and his teammate (when there were working Brembo’s). I wonder how long it will take him to fully reprogram, or if the preference differences are simply too great. He gains here in all “commitment corners”, and loses in many of the significant braking zones, where he had previously matched or outpaced Lewis at the beginning of 2026 in low speed corners before the switch. I don’t know when/if we will see Brembo fix their material composition, but it seems clear that if they can get them to actually function, at least for Leclerc, there’s a higher performance ceiling for him than where he’s currently at.
