The guy was so fucking smart that *both* of his sons graduated top of their class in Cambridge, and his grandchildren have collectively ~10 degrees from harvard/yale/mit/stanford. good genes and good parenting. can't beat that.

Damn, could you even imagine if all our Western countries had a guy like this in charge, instead of wealth-destroying WEF puppet politicians.

Really a fascinating guy. Oversaw one of the most impressive economic turnarounds in history taking Singapore from ~$500 GDP/capita to over $11,000 by the time he stepped down as Prime Minister. His work set the trajectory for where they are now among the top of the world >$80k/capita He was a big proponent of meritocracy and built Singapore up on a foundation of competence, discipline, and efficiency. I think a lot of developed nations today – certainly those that lean more socialist – could learn a lot from this kind of perspective...the proof is in the pudding. And ironically enough, one of his major accomplishments was something most socialist-leaning liberals hold near and dear: a highly racially harmonious society. By promoting meritocracy and treating everyone according to their competence level, he organically achieved the harmony that DEI attempts (and often fails) to achieve through arbitrary market interventions/manipulations.
